Step 1 : Consolidate Your Cards

If you are currently holding several credit cards, all you need to do is to consolidate all the outstanding amounts on all your credit cards into just one credit card. That would be ideal, but if that is not possible, maybe try for two credit cards then. If that is still not possible, then go for 3 credit cards. Holding 3 credit cards would be the maximum for this plan to work though. The objective here is to hold as few credit cards as possible. You might need to call up your credit cards company to cancel off the other credit cards that you are holding.

Step 2 : Spare Some Money

Now that you have cancelled the other credit cards, and assuming that you have consolidated all the outstanding amounts into only two credit cards, all you need to do is try to pay off one of the credit cards first. The one that you need to pay off first will be the credit card with the least outstanding amount. Just pay only the minimum payment for the other credit cards that you are still holding. Now, you will need to come up with at least a few hundred bucks each month to pay off that one credit card. Try to come out with it even as little as 200 bucks per month will do. Try to cut unnecessary items such as summer vacations, eating out on weekends or maybe try saving on utility bills, etc. Even if it means no snacks for the TV at night, just do it.

Step 3 : Pay Off The First Credit Card First

Once you have come up with some extra little cash each month, pay it to that one credit card on top of its minimum payment. Just keep doing it every month until this one card is fully settled. Depending on the amount outstanding and the extra payment that you are paying each month, this process may take a few months or even years. But don’t give up, you can do it, it isn’t really that hard.

Step 4 : Pay Off The Remaining Credit Cards

Once this one credit card is finish settled, cut it up and tackle the next one that has the least outstanding amount. A little tricks to note here; don’t try to pay off all the credit cards at the same time, it will never work. You need to pay off one by one though starting with the least outstanding amount. When paying off the next card, as usual, use that extra money that you have come up with every month to pay it off. Once this card is fully settled, move on to the next. Keep repeating the process until all your credit cards debt is cleared.

Step 5 : Reduce Credit Card Debt

You should have totally reduced all of your credit cards debts by now, and preferably you have got out of debt in fact. As such, you are now officially free of credit cards debts, you have got yourself out of the deep hole. So, CONGRATULATIONS!
