LCD Televisions

Pros:

For a hardcore game-player, an LCD television might be a great all-around choice. LCD screens typically have 1,366x768 resolution, and lots of the newer, more expensive ones are 1,920x1,080 (or 1080p), which can really show off the high resolution of HDTV-enabled games and consoles.

Cons:

If you sometimes play in large groups, with players sitting on the edge of the sofa, for example, the tendency of most LCDs to fade-out or lose color when viewed from a side angle might be an issue.

Plasma Televisions

Pros:

Plasmas make very good gaming displays too as long as you're aware of the chances of image retention. So don't leave the game paused for a long time with no screensaver. Large sizes plasmas can cost less than LCDs.

Cons:

Off-angle performance is not an issue with plasmas, but they do reflect more light than LCDs, so if you play in a room with a big window or bright light bulb, reflections may be an issue.
