Green Tea is a Strong Antioxidant
The first benefit I want to consider of green tea is the fact that it is a strong antioxidant.
In a world where our bodies are constantly bombarded with toxins - in our food, in the atmosphere around us and in some other habits, antioxidants are essential to our health.
Toxins in food, pollution, smoking, and many other factors lead to substances known as free radicals. When these free radicals go out of control they lead to ageing and disease.
Antixoxidants, such as green tea, help to fight these free radicals and so help to restore our health or keep us in optimum health.

Green Tea as a Natural Cancer Cure
According to Science Daily, "Green tea's ability to fight cancer is even more potent and varied than scientists suspected, say researchers who have discovered that chemicals in green tea shut down one of the key molecules that tobacco relies upon to cause cancer. It's a find that could help explain why people who drink green tea are less likely to develop cancer. The finding by scientists at the University of Rochester's Environmental Health Science Center appears in the July 21 issue of Chemical Research in Toxicology, published by the American Chemical Society."

Green Tea and Weight Loss
Today many people are looking for solutions to help them lose weight and one of the best is regularly drinking green tea.
Green tea is beneficial for weight loss in that it helps to burn fat faster and speed up the metabolism. It has also been found that people who regularly drink green tea over a period of time have lower body fat than the average person.
The caffeine and EGCG in green tea work together to help increase the rate at which brown fat is broken down (brown fat thermogenesis). It also increases fat oxidation and energy expenditure over a full 24 hours, unlike caffeine that only works while you are drinking it.
Another benefit of green tea for weight loss is that it helps to stabilize blood sugar levels. When blood sugar levels spike it leads to hunger cravings which therefore undermine any diet you may be on; whereas drinking green tea helps to alleviate these cravings by stabilizing blood sugar. It is also beneficial for diabetics and can help to reduce the need for insulin.
If you need to lose weight then make a concerted effort to drink a few cups of green tea a day as it will greatly benefit your results.

Green Tea and Skin Care
Another benefit of green tea is that it is an excellent skin care product and can help in cases of acne and other skin disorders.
One advantage of green tea for skin care is that it has been found to be as beneficial as a 4% solution of benzoyl peroxide which is the normal medication prescribed for acne. The difference between green tea and benzoyl peroxide however is that where benzoyl peroxide tends to be very harsh on the skin, green tea does not have this same harsh, drying effect and so is more beneficial for your skin.
Green tea has also been found to be useful in helping to prevent sun damage and skin cancer when applied to the skin due to its strong antioxidant properties.
The EGCG in green tea also helps to reactivate and rejuvenate dying skin cells which can hold many benefits for our skin. You can learn more about this from the Science Daily article.
There are a number of ways you can include green tea in your skin care regimen. The first you should use is simply to drink a few cups of green tea daily. You can also freeze ice cubes of green tea and use these as a toner or use cool, used green tea bags on your skin as a cleanser. There are also green tea extract creams and capsules that you can take to improve your skin condition.

I'm drinking some even as I write this! :)
Used green tea bags (cold) are also a great way to soothe stressed eyes...and I live in the hope that they'll do away with my dark circles one day!
