Is The Pizza Diet A Safe Way To Reach A Healhty Weight?
53Do You Really Think Eating Pizza Helps You Lose Weight?
This one is really hard for me to believe so I need you guys to give me your feedback and experiences with this, if you've tried it.
I was at the mall yesterday, standing in the check out line when I over heard the cashier talking about how much weight she lost while she was on her so called pizza diet. I must have looked ridiculous as I stooped down to pick my jaw up off the floor immediately after she bragged about losing a whopping 30 pounds.
30 pounds lost eating nothing but pizza?! You've got to be kidding me! How in the world can dough, smothered in cheese and greasy toppings be considered a healthy way to lose weight. There's no way this knock out figure resulted from a 3 month pizza binge!
Losing Weight On The Pizza Diet
I Had To Ask....
As soon as she started ringing up my purchase, I had to ask her: "Really now, did you really only eat pizza and did you seriously lose 30 pounds in 3 months
just eating pizza?" She smiled back at me and insisted that she did lose the weight only eating pizza. Then she added that she didn't even excersise.
"How much pizza did you eat a day," I asked. "Only 2 regular size pieces" was her response. Then she explained that she restricted herself to only thin crust pizzas and pizzas with only low fat cheese and if topped with meat, it had to be low fat too. She said she ate a lot of veggie style pizzas and pineapple or plain pizzas.

I Still Have My Doubts
I still have my doubts about embarking on an all pizza diet. Sure, tomato sauce is healthy and you would increase the pizza eating health benefits if you heap on a lot of veggie toppings. But at the very least, don't you think it's gotta get old pretty fast?
And can an all pizza diet be truly satisfying? Wouldn't such a diet leave you with serious cravings? I wonder. Would such a diet put the dieter at risk of developing health problems, and even eating disorders such as anorexia or bullimia? I just don't know.

Here Is Why I Think The Pizza Diet Might Work
Obviously I can see the appeal of the pizza diet. And why not have a pizza diet? After all, look how much weight Jared lost on that Subway sandwich diet? Maybe it's nothing more than a marketing ploy. I'm really not sure. But I'm the first to admit that pizza is one of my favorite foods. And aparently, I'm in good company because I read someplace that Americans eat about 350 slices of pizza per second. Now that's a lot of pizza.
Here's why I think the pizza diet might work. It all boils down to calorie counting and portion control. The key probably is in limiting yourself to one or two regular size slices per meal, and avoiding the fatty cheese and other toppings. Because protien helps dieters lose more weight and it helps make you feel satisfied, I'd probably opt for a healhty chicken topping. I'm not into tofu, but I've heard that works as a good protien pizza topping. You'll feel somewhat rewarded because you're eating food you love, plus you're doubly rewarded as you see the weight drop off your body.

Negative Calorie Foods Should Be Included
I think it would really help to supplement this diet with negative calorie foods with your pizza meals and in between snacks. Negative calorie foods are foods which burn more calories as you eat them, than they offer you. These included zucchini, mushrooms, lettuce, spinach, oranges, pineapple, watermelon, carrots, spinach and asparagus. You could eat these as pizza toppings or alone. That might reduce the tendency to 'burn out' on pizza alone.
Cheese could be a serious problem for the pizza diet, but I believe this diet could actually work if you used only mozzarella, parm and goat cheese. Pizza goes naturally well with fresh tossed salad, so adding ample lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers is a healthy and welcome idea. Just lay off the fatty salad dressings.
And to really make this pizza diet 'sing' with results, I'd naturally avoid high calorie beverages. I'd probably stick to lots of water, maybe flavored with a hint of lemon or lime. I'd consider plenty of unsweetened green tea, maybe flavored with a small amount of fruit juice.
Tell Me What You Think...
Anyway, that's how I think the pizza diet really could work and you could lose 30 pounds in 3 months eating pizza. I still think I'd get pretty bored with it. Then again, I get bored with any diet so I need a lot of help and support from proven weight loss programs.
I need to know what you think? Have you ever tried this diet? Do you know of anyone who has? Even if you've never tried it, please tell me what you think? Will it work? Is it healthy?
