The heart is the main and most important organ in your body because it gives you life. Therefore, you should take good care of your heart in order for you to live a longer life and for the heart to perform its functions properly.
In this article I have outlined a few tips that will help you keep your heart healthy and will help reduce your risk of getting heart related illnesses.
The most important tip is to watch what you eat. Diet affects how your entire body operates including your heart.
- Avoid fatty foods.
- Eat fruits and vegetables either cooked or as salads daily.
- Eat legumes two or three times a week or every day if you can. Examples of legumes are lentils, beans and peas.
- Reduce your salt and sugar intake and avoid tobacco and coffee.
- Eat whole grain bread and pasta instead of white bread and refined pasta.
- Drink lots of grape juice and eat grapes.
- Exercise at least three times a week or take a 15 minute walk every morning.
