helens of troy: the 10 most beautiful faces ever!
81Beauty has no definite science, not even a philosophy. Its essence and perception relies solely on the beholder's baser instinct. Meaning, you just know one when you see one. But fortunately, you have friends to compare notes with. So with the weighty opinions of my friends, I have come up with my list of the most beautiful faces who ever walked the earth.
Grace Kelly
The great blonde beauty who married into Monaco's royalty in 1956. She personified cool, sophistication, elegance and Old Hollywood glamour.
At her most beautiful: High Society (1956)
Audrey Hepburn
Known for her gamine and effin look, she embodied what's chic in Hollywood. Once a muse for Givenchy and later a poster girl for humanitarian causes, a true beauty inside and out.
At her most beautiful: Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)
Sophia Loren
This Italian vixen puts the S in smoulder and the v in vavavoom. An international sex symbol during her prime, she is the originator of "the pout".
At her most beautiful: Two Women (1961)
Brooke Shields
Once one of the most recognizable faces in the world, this actress and one time supermodel has grown from being everybody's pretty baby to a lipstick jungle amazon.
At her most beautiful: The Blue Lagoon (1980)
Vanessa Williams
In 1983, the world stood to watch the first African American Miss America crowned. In the 1990s, she became the first African American spokesmodel for L'Oreal.
At her most beatiful: Soul Food (1997)
Winona Ryder
She may largely be knownn for her alienating roles and public behavior but her name regularly appears on lists of the most memorable faces.
At her most beautiful: The Age of Innocence (1993)
Aishwarya Rai
Hailed as the most beautiful woman in the world by CBS News in 2007 (and Julia Roberts agrees) based on Internet polls and Web site features.
At her most beauiful: Mistress of Spices (2005)
Monica Bellucci
According to Esquire magazine (2001), this is what desire is all about. Currently she is the "it" girl for several Dior cosmestics.
At her most beautiful: Malena (2000)
Natalie Portman
Hair or no hair, she debunks the theory that the concept of "beauty and brains" is a myth.
At her most beautiful: Star Wars movies as Padme Amidala
Gong Li
The face of L'Oreal in most of Asia, Li almost single-handedly brought Western awareness of Chinese cinema to new heights.
At her most beautiful: as Hatsumomo in Memoirs of a Geisha (2005)

And she has a lot between her ears apparently! As for your being jealous, remember we are our own rainbow! (now who said that?) Thanks for dropping by :D
I JUST LOVE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN NICE BLOG!!
that's make two of us then! thanks for commenting :D
Gotta agree on the Gong Li Insert ! The most beautiful creature on the planet ! Lots of excellent choices here . But where Is Marilyn Monroe ? She Is an Icon and definitely 50 years later still one of the most recognizeable faces of all time !
Yep Gong Li is a beauty, first seen her in Farewell My Concubine and I'm hooked. I included Ms Monroe in my hub on the top sex symbols of all time, you can find the link at the top of this hub! thanks for dropping by!
They are so pretty… My favourite ones are Sophia Loren and Monica Bellucci, she was sublime as Luisa Ferida in “Une histoire italienne”.
Really? Got to look for it then! Thanks for dropping by, and i'm glad you enjoyed all these beautiful women :D
Love all of them, i love everything beautiful. You're collection is great!
as they say.. a thing of beauty is a joy forever! thanks for passing by :D
Good choices and well selected pictures. Well done!
thanks, believe me it was not that easy! so many beautiful women.... :D
Nicely done! Your passion for photography shows in the images you chose.
I'm glad you liked the photos. Thanks for the comment :D
Very good Hub. Beauty is also enhanced if these women are or were beautiful on the inside.
Very true. Thanks for dropping a line :D
I wholeheartedly agree with your list. Thank you for not adding some of the obvious, over-hyped stars who are considered "beautiful." I thought this was perfect.
Kpb38
Yep I agree with you. I don't know about the other but these 10 beautiful ladies here top my list! Thanks for dropping by :D
Sofia Loren, well, she is one of a kind to my eyes :-) But all are so very beautiful it's a difficult "choice", I'm thinking Ava Gardner would probably make it to my list... if I ever found it in me to build such a list!! As I already confessed in another top ten lilst hub, it'd drive me crazy to put together a list of 10 ... anything! Thanks for the eye candy ;-)
Elena
I agree, there's just something about Sofia Loren! Yes, making lists is not as easy as it sounds - specially when you're doing something that has no facts to back it up - like this one! Glad you liked the eye candy :D
Ahhhhhhhhhh, Sophia. What beauty!
Thought you'd like her, C. - she's from the 1800s too! LOL :D
Sophia...a true beauty then, and a true beauty now...saw her in Palm Springs a couple of years ago. She was the celebrity chairperson for the film festival there..stunning and elegant... I agree, " Two Women " was made in her prime...I read somewhere that the film was partially autobiographical..
Great Hub, thanks for the memories..
Glad you enjoyed looking at these beautiful women! but who wouldn't? Good memories are on the house, have them while they last! Thanks for dropping by :D
Lovely! Don't you just love black and white photography.
oh i do, i sometimes even wish that i live in a black and white world - like life is a film noir! LOL thanks for dropping :D
Wow! I was too young for the Brooke Shields era and didn't realize how gorgeous she was! (I think she looks kinda average lately, but hey, she's older)
I LOVE Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday and of course My Fair Lady. I want to write a Hub about "Bringing Audrey Hepburn Back". The long gloves and big eyebrows, elegant dresses, the cigarette holders, the beautiful hats!
I was in love with Brooke Shields when she was everywhere! LOL Glad you like this one, and I think you should hub about Audrey, your idea sounds great :D
where is michelle pfeiffer remember she was considered to be the most beautiful and refined face in the ninties
Okay I will reconsider my list and probably update. Thanks for dropping by :D
Nice pics! It doesn't get much more beautiful than Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn!! Excellent choices---u have a great eye :)
Janetta
Thanks for agreeing with my choices, it means we see beauty the same way. And I see your avatar features Vivien Leigh, another great beauty! :D
Though Brooke Shields says she wants the face she had a decade ago, she'd get the top spot in my book. I also like Winona Ryder's delicate beauty, and Sophia Loren is classic. But where are Ingrid Bergman and Catherine Zeta-Jones? Don't you think they can compare?
Gabrielle
Ingrid is on my other list and I agree Catherine is one beautiful lady ut unfortunately I only have 10 spots. Thanks for dropping by :D
thanks for share, beautiful picture
thanks. hope this hub made your day :D
The trouble with still photography, and I adore photography, as you by know already have guessed, is that it is difficult to capture personality as it happens in motion, but yes, all the examples you have portrayed are stunners! I could easily put my wife's face in there too, kid you not, as she is a legitimate stunner herself. I have always had a passion for viewing beautiful faces, probably because they are easier to connect with. Oh, how shallow of me... Interesting post Cris A!
christian
Good for you! Why don't you hub about her? Anyway, thanks for dropping by. And I appreciate the comments that you leave everytime :D

I knew that Natalie Portman would be on here! She is so pretty and I can't say I'm not jealous, lol. Good idea for a Hub!
