Why Become a Herbalife Distributor?

So you want to be a wellness distributor? Herbalife is a fair place to begin your search, but not recommended if you are interested in independently making money through your business, and most of all it is strongly not recommended if your clients’ health is in your best interest!

In my humble experience I have felt very mislead by Herbalife. They promote and sell their products through a multi-level marketing scheme. This means that a person who wants to become a distributor has to pay into the system in order to join the business, and there are royalty rewards for any member who recruits a new applicant.

This is faulty on several levels. Firstly I would like to mention their “Decision Package” which is a small booklet and a DVD. The applicant is expected to review these materials within the first 24 hours, in order for him or her to feel equipped in deciding whether or not this business is really for them. After I reviewed the package, I asked myself “what am I deciding? This “decision package” is nothing more than an hour long commercial!”

Thus, I took the risk out of desperation to somehow find the opportunity to work from home and sustain myself independently. I was offered two different packages to proceed. One package was geared towards making sales to friends and family, making direct contact with your future prospects. The other option was the “international business package” which I was informed would enable me to work a business from home using the Internet to distribute the same products worldwide. So I proceeded with the “international business package” which was comprised of an excess of Herbalife products geared towards weight loss and metabolism boosters, plus a very cheesy and outdated marketing manual.

When the Herbalife salesman asked me what health problems I have, I did not mention anything about needing to lose weight – yet I was provided with about 9 products all geared towards weight loss included in this “international” package. I was moving at the time, preparing to travel, so having all these weight loss products in my home wasn’t at all what I had in mind when I signed up for an “online business”.

I was appalled and quite frustrated. I was firmly informed that this was an online business, which it is certainly not! So, to my surprise and disappointment, I was encouraged to register for several unnecessary accessories at unreasonable prices. The best example is the merchant provider (enabling an entrepreneur to process credit cards), which is at least 10 times more expensive than other options that were easily found online through Google (www.propay.com is a good example). On top of that, the first step in establishing prospects was to call friends and family, and advertise in the community! Does this sound like an international business to you? If you are at all wondering, the answer is simply “no”. How is someone supposed to distribute flyers, ads, samples, and business cards from home? It is strictly not a home business; it is simply purchasing the products at wholesale prices and reselling them in your community at retail prices (the prices are unreasonable in most cases – see http://www.wholesalesupplementstore.com for better prices).

To make a long story short, I finally decided to resign as a distributor when I realized that their products contain a derivative of aspartame and hydrogenated oils. This to me is absolutely despicable when they present themselves as a Wellness company, and that their name contains the word “herbal”. To make a blunt conclusion I would like to finalize this article by saying that Herbalife and Online Business Systems is both a scam and morally crooked… I would encourage anyone who is currently taking their products or considering being a distributor to strongly reconsider.

I'm sorry that it happened to you that way. I can tell you that had I been put in the same situation as you with hunting down friends and family or advertising in your community, I would of resigned almost immediately. However, the team (only 2 herbalife teams are actually internet based) is an internet based team. I have people from across the US, some in Canada, even in India. I haven't even left my house and I am doing really well in my business, especially with it only being my second month. Your only mistake, was joining the wrong team, which not many people know about. I got very lucky. Yes you do need to pay your way in. That is how Herbalife is. However, no business is free to start. I can say that we don't force people to have products in their house to sell, that is their choice. I prefer to drop ship from Herbalife. Each team in Herbalife is different. We teach steps that we know to be successful. If it weren't, I would of left this business already. I'm sorry you had a bad experience.
