What is HGH?
We all know that our body comprises of various systems each of which has its specific function. But there is a system which tells all these systems about when and how to carry out their specified task. The system responsible behind this scheduling task is the endocrine system in our body. The various glands of this system, called the endocrine glands, secrete fluids called hormones which stimulate the various organs to carry out their specified task. One of these hormones is the human growth hormone (HGH). These days HGH is becoming more and more famous among the common people.
Human growth hormone (HGH) is a hormone which is secreted by the pituitary gland which is located in the brain. This gland is also responsible for the secretion of other hormones like testosterone and estrogen. The human growth hormone acts on the organs like the liver to stimulate it to produce insulin like growth factor (IGF). It is the human growth hormone only which is responsible the growth of almost every part of our body. HGH makes the cells to multiply and hence our body grows into an adult one. When we are young, our body stimulates a lot of human growth hormone so that our body could grow at a much faster rate than the adult body.
Human growth hormone allows our bones and muscles to grow from young ones into adult ones. It also helps them to grow them into strong muscles and bones. Sometimes, in children there not enough secretion of the human growth hormone. To compensate the volume of the hormone in the body the doctors prescribe them with HGH supplements so that the growth rate of the child’s body would remain the same as other normal children’s rate. These supplements are also subscribed to those children who are smaller than average children of their age.
The peak of the production of the human growth hormone is between the ages of 20 to 31 years. After the age of 31 years, the production rate of HGH decline sharply. It means the body growth rate declines and the state of the body stabilizes for a particular period of time. The cell growth of the body becomes slow and aging effects are seen on the body. The signs of aging effects include hair fall, rough and dry skin, brittle bones, decreased functioning of the brain, increased fat in the body, decreased sexual performance, and loss in the body muscles which keep the body strong.
In order to fight these aging effects, people often go for a human growth hormone replacement therapy. In this therapy, the body is injected with the human growth hormones so that the body can attain the fast cell growth rate once again and the aging effects would get vanished. These human growth hormones can also be taken orally and the therapy also includes substances like vitamins and amino acids which help the body to produce human growth hormone once again. But a recent study has shown that people with high amount of HGH die at an early age. It is still being researched that a high rate of HGH imparts a negative impact on our body.
