What is considered high blood pressure?

High Blood Pressure is caused when blood pushes too hard against artery walls. When your Blood Pressure remains high at 140/90 or above you have high blood pressure. Normal Pressure is 120/80.

It is normal for your blood pressure to rise as you age. But be aware, the higher your blood pressure is the higher your risk of heart attack, stroke or even kidney failure.

Symptoms of high blood pressure

Believe it or not, there are not definite signs of high blood pressure. Every time you go to the doctor, the first thing that the nurse does is check your blood pressure. Why? Because often people have high blood pressure and don't even know it.

There really are no physical signs or symptoms of high blood pressure which is why they call this the "silent killer". This is why it is important to get your blood pressure checked regularly.

It's important to remember that if high blood pressure goes untreated for to long, it can cause serious complications.

Help reduce high blood pressure

If your blood pressure is higher then your would like it to be, there are things you can do right now to help lower it.

  • Eat right and Lose Weight
  • drink more water
  • Get more excercise
  • Eat less salt and sodium
  • Stop Smoking
