Tips to avoid Losing Your Shirt in Vegas!

This isn't Gambling Advice! This is simply a few (Learned the Hard Way!) tips for how to Not get carried away in the casino, etc.

Have you ever heard the saying?: Went to Vegas in a $50,000.00 Car...Went Home on a $500,000.00 Bus!

Folks, this happens to a lot of people! Between the two of us, my wife and I have more than thirty years of combined experience of working, playing, winning...and, losing in Casinos! This is mostly in Nevada's Las Vegas, and Reno casinos. We live in Reno, and my wife is a High Limit Blackjack Dealer at one of the oldest & largest hotels in town...The Nugget. She actually deals every game...even Craps (dice). But she's mostly "Known" for her skills as a High Roller "Killer!" at the BlackJack (21) Tables.

My wife caters mostly to rich San Francisco players. The tables she usually deals at are $100.00 (and up) tables. There is just so much I can tell you about this. I'll be adding to this Hub as time goes by. I never worked in the "dealing" etc. aspect of the casino. Instead, I was in Security & Observation. And, believe me, some of the "stuff" I can tell you will not only shock you...it's probably even safe to say that most Casinos (and the NV State Gaming Commission) would prefer that I didn't even share such information!

As I said, I'll be adding to this. But for now I'd just like to share a few of the more obvious (albeit, not always so easily adhered to) Common Sense tips. "Vegas" can be loads of Fun! And now that the Government's "opened the flood gates" on Gambling in America, it's virtually all over the place. Do you realize that just a few years ago they couldn't even show a real Slot Machine on TV?! But some of "the old things" in Vegas haven't really changed. In short, the saying: "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" may be now-a-days, funny! But the reality (still is) more like: If you Lose Your Shirt in Vegas - WE DON'T CARE - and, You had Better Find a Way of Getting The Hell Out of Here...And ASAP! There's a lot of Homeless People and Prostitutes in Vegas & Reno...and guess what? Most of them aren't From Vegas or Reno! How'd they end up that way? Do you want to hear more about the days when I used to be in Casino Security in Vegas? When we routinely found victims of Suicide in the hotel's rooms & restrooms, and even pulled them out of dumpsters out back! Yes, some people end up so bad off that they hope that the trash truck will deliver their body to the dump. In this way, they'll be "missing" for a number of years, then when they're "declared dead," their family can collect the life insurance!

Tip 1. Never bring with you more than you can afford to lose. After losing, the temptation to "Get it Back" can be enormous & over-whelming...if you're not really accustomed to losing, no perceived amount of "Self Control" is stronger than: "They Took All My Money...The Bastards"!

Tip 2. Especially if you drink, don't bring Any Plastic! Even if you Max Out a card at a regular ATM, you can still continue getting Cage Advances on it...as long as the bank, creditor, card issuer, etc. shows you have balance, the casino will continue handing you money on your signature.

Tip 3. If you drink, practice "staggering" your drinks. I.E., if you like Beer, drink 1 regular; then 1 non-alcoholic. The same for Booze...substitute that 2nd drink with something non-alcoholic. A "day" can be very long in Vegas. The "partying" might start right after breakfast! By 8:00 P.M., you might "think" that you're O.K.

Tip 4. EAT & SLEEP! Especially if you intend to do any drinking at all, and/or you have any health problems. Take breaks. Take a shower and a nap. Don't go in & out of the hotel when it's 106 outside, or go Club Hopping, and Drinking...You'll just end up Broke & Dehydrated in the ER!

More to Come!
