Secrets of High Hubscores

Get a Higher Hubpages Hub Score

I was going to call this hub, "How to Keep It Up (your hubscore)" but decided to call it "How to Get A Higher Hub Score on Hubpages" instead, and you'll see why later ("Secrets of Higher Hub Scores" was also in consideration)... If you've been hubbing on hubpages very long, you know about hubscores and how addictive they can be (higher hubscores that is). But why do some hubbers have high scores and some (like us) don't. And how do we get higher scores?

First let's talk about the difference between "hub score" and "hubber score" (or author hub score). Hub Score relates to an individual hub page that you write. Hubber score relates to you, the author, and it's that little number on your picture.

Why do they matter? The higher your hubscore, the higher your individual hub pages will rank on internal hub page searches. Higher is better. I think your hubber score is more an ego thing.

Hub scores (that is for individual hubs) are determined mainly by traffic (popularity).

Hubber (author) scores are determined by your individual hub scores and your participation in the hub pages community. If you want a high hubber score, you can either participate a lot or get higher hub page scores.

For those of us that don't have a lot of time, regular and abundant participate is tough, so to get a high hubber (author) score, we need to focus on our individual hub scores. And as I said, the individual hub scores are determined mainly by the traffic the hub page gets (how popular it is). So how do you get higher hub page scores? Get more traffic. And how do you get more traffic? ...

1) Write hubs about popular topics:
Find out what the popular topics are, and write quality, content heavy hubs about these topics!

2. Chose your hub title carefully:
Pick a good title that includes the keywords people will be searching for. That is why I called this hub "How to Get A Higher Hub Score on Hubpages" instead of "How to Keep It Up (your hubscore)". And that's also why I wrote this hub about something a lot of hubbers want to know about - HIGHER HUB SCORES!

3. Write good content, and include keywords in it.
Again, you've got to know what phrases people are searching for and include them in your hub. For this hub, I might what to include phrases like "Improving your hubscore" or "How your hubscore is determined and calculated" or "What is a Hubscore?". Because some people may search for "hub score" and some people might search for "hubscore" (two words vs one, like "trade show" versus "tradeshow"), I might also include the phases "Improving your hub score" and "How your hub score is determined and calculated". I can even include the variations of "improving" (ie.e improve, improves, improved) and the "determined and calculated" (determine, determines, determining, and calculate, calculates, calculating). I might also look for synonyms to improved... i.e better, higher, stronger, bigger... well, I don't know if people are looking for a "stronger or bigger hubscore". The key is your hub must include the words people are looking for.

4. Write a good hub with good content that people will like:
If you write a hub that people like, you may learn the true power of 'word of mouth" marketing...

In summary:

You may be passionate about "purple turtle foot odor," and you may write a brilliant hub about "purple turtle foot odor"... but I'm guessing very few people want to know about it, and you will get very little traffic... and you will find you have low hub score and thus a low hubber score.

So if you want a high hubber score, you can either:
1) use photoshop like I did :) , or
2) you can spend a lot of time participating on hub pages (nothing wrong with that), or
3) you can write hubs about popular topics with good titles.
