Lots of information here.  And since it's all basicly natural foods there is less of a chance of harmful interaction with any meds one may already be on and is perfect for woman who are expecting (I would caution though to always check with your Dr if expecting whether taking an over-the-counter, herbel or natural approach.)

Good hub, I'd be interested in knowing where you found out about some of these.

I hate to burst your bubble, but any herbal or dietary "remedy" which claims to dissolve kidney stones is a lie. You can find an herbal remedy out there which claims to do anything you can wish for, but that doesn't mean it works. Furthermore, herbal products are not regulated as to their quality or quatitative contents and can have serious side effects and drug interactions. Why would you trust something like that over a proven and tested medication.

The only type of kidney stone which can be truly dissolved with anything oral is uric acid stones. They can be dissolved by alkalinizing the urine to a pH around 6.5 consistently. Calcium stones which have formed will not shrink. The best you can hope for is to prevent further growth or future stones. This can be accomplished often with increased water intake, low salt intake, moderate calcium intake (actually not that important), moderate to low oxalate intake. Despite this, stones are a very complicated issue for which there are many metabolic causes and only testing by a doctor can help you know the etiology for sure. Most cases can be prevented by consistent hydration (water intake).
