Are you feeling overwhelmed?

Placing your latest marketing ads online and updating your twitter and social media sites. You also need to submit your latest series of articles and put your latest post on your blog, just participated in your third conference call of the day. Once you’ve done that you have to respond to people’s request for more information about your company and oh by the way you are still working your full time job, your spouse is saying this is never going to work and you only have 2 hours to get all of this done. If this is your life don’t be alarmed because this is what happens to the majority of people in the home business arena. As great as it is to multitask this will often lead to frustration and a feeling that nothing is getting done.

What is the answer? Outsourcing.

Outsourcing is simply a form of delegation. The best way to understand outsourcing is to think of your business as a million dollar corporation and you are the CEO. With this mindset here is the question you need to ask. What are the activities that the CEO will focus on to build the business? Will you come in and sweep the floors and put out the garbage? Possibly, but not likely because someone else can do it. There is a mindset necessary for outsourcing and this is it. Whatever someone else can do, let them do it.

Why should I do this?

You need to focus on activities that are directly responsible for building your business and that only you can do. In the CEO example he can get someone to clean the bathroom and that won’t damage his business, but that meeting with the IT department to set the direction of the next marketing campaign is something he must do. The key is really dividing up your activities into 2 areas. The first is things I must do. The second is things someone else can do. By doing this you will free up your time to focus on the activities that are critical to your business success.

You are the most important person in your business.

You are a limited resource. No matter how hard you work you only have 24 hours in a day and out of that most people only have 1-2 hours each day to spend on their business. By outsourcing you now can increase you manpower and productivity. Imagine if you have someone who is responsible for placing all your ads, submitting your articles and placing your blog posts. By doing this all you have to do is write the ad, article or post. Imagine how many good ads you can create if all you have to do is write them and let someone else post them. How many people can you add to your business if you had someone else to weed out the tire kickers and you only spoke to those ready to do business? This is the power of outsourcing. Remember you are the CEO and now it is time to start acting like one.
