All spiral hams are not honeybaked ham

There is a lot of confusion amongst the general public on the term honey baked ham. They seem to think that any ham that is spiral sliced is a honey baked ham. That is absolutely not the case.

Honey baked ham (or more accurately, honeybaked ham) is a brand. It is one companies spiral sliced ham. They are high quality, pre-glazed, fully cooked hams. The honey baked ham company started over 50 years ago and now there are many other spiral sliced ham companies.

As a general rule, you can only get a honeybaked ham at a honeybaked ham store or online at honeybaked.com.

The majority of spiral sliced ham competition comes in the form of grocery store hams in the bin. Those are completely different from the premium brands to the point that they almost don't seem like the same type of meat. The texture and flavor of the premium spiral hams contain a lot less water which results in a meatier texture (instead of a lunch meat texture) and a richer (not watered down) flavor. However, if you enjoy cooking and garnishing your ham, these types of ham are the way to go. Remember the premium types don't have extra water so cooking tends to dry them.

Pams-hams is one of the premium spiral glazed hams that has no added water. It also contains far less carbs than many of the other premium and grocery store type spiral hams. It is incredibly simple to serve because it's best served at room temperature. Absolutely no cooking is required because it's already fully cooked and has the crunchy glaze on top.

As for which to choose for your next event, understand the options and choose based on your family's personal preference. And for homemade easy recipes, entertaining tips, and one really great ham, visit Pams-Hams.com.
