when to do and when not to do?

how to choose a surgeon?

a lot many of us have a phobia.

phobia of surgery

so we conveniently neglect discussion surgery

or may be discuss a surgeon or a hospital and how some one paid a high tag and got the best procedure

but many of us do not have the answer to how did you choose the best?

most often it is because your friend or relative or boss had underwnet and you go to the same person.

well let that be the past.

role of a surgeon in the present era

with so much awareness around getting a surgeon is not a big deal

but getting a good surgeon is a big deal

surgery or surgeon alone do not stand a onetime complete procedure

ideally the physician or family doctor need to find a good surgeon for you.

sadly the insurance comapny does it now

we are dictated by the insurance companies

the best sales representatives of ophrama companies are doctors themselves who succumb to tempting offers not all of course but too many.

a good surgeon is one who knows when not to do than when to do

the ugly side of advertisement

never before had health been a toy of aggressive marketing and vigorous advertisemnt like it is now thanks to the advent of internet and television

the foolish literate class

just because someone has the smartness to read in english and just because something is wriiten in english is comprehensible we cannot take it on ourselves to chose a surgeon this is what is happening with unregulated web content which are not authorise d or standardised

guidelines to choose a surgeon

  • first and foremost the surgery needs to be aunthenticated by a surgeon and a physician except may be in an emergency

  • if a physician and surgeon both feel that surgery is necessary then you need to embark on who would be your surgeon

  • for awareness sake go through authenticated patient education sites like mayo clinic or any medical institution

  • do not look at websites in general and television at large which may have bogus claims

  • findout whether your surgeon is accountable

  • find out whether he is accesible

  • find out whether he is affordable

  • if he satisifes these cardinal rules then set out to do a small anlysis of your surgeon

  • findout his training credentials

  • his mere qualification may not make him a good surgeon

  • training in a good institute with a reputed surgeon will make him protocol oriented

  • find out his team memebers you have a right to discuss that especially the anesthesiologist

  • findout how many procedures he has perfoemed

  • find out how many had failed and what are his results

  • findout whether he has professional crediblity

  • findout whether he has law suits

  • findout whether he had been professionally discredited

  • findout his scientific affiliations

  • findout whether he updates with technology

  • findout whether he is caplable of trouble shooting if necessary

if a surgeon has a professional standing with necessary qualifications and experience and reputation along with being affordable accessible and avialble for you the he is the surgeon of your choice.

best of luck
