How Speech Recognition Software Works
60Using software
Speech recognition software has become an everyday fixture in offices and homes across the world. It allows computer users to sit down, use a headset and communicate directly with programs. Everything from e-mail to instant messengers to word processing programs can be used with such software.
This type of software uses speed and accuracy of speech patterns to properly produce and interpret the everyday speech of a particular user. Accuracy is tested by the error rate of the way the software interprets how you say words and piece together sentences. Speed measures how quickly the software produces the sentences you say on your computer. However, both speed and accuracy can be affected by the diction used when a person speakers.
Since every person speaks with a different accent, tone and general demeanor, speech recognition software does what it can to interpret and reproduce sentences in the way a person would say it out loud. The more you use the software, the better it becomes at picking up your particular speech patterns and duplicating them. Most problems come with built-in exercises and training activities for it to learn your speech patterns to better interpret translation.
In order to properly use speech recognition software, you need at least three things: You need a microphone, though most prefer a headset; you need a relatively quiet environment; and, of course, you need speech recognition software to use. There are free versions as well as paid versions to use, however the paid versions will have more features and ways to customize the program to fit your needs.
Software in action
Once you have found the right software, it will take some time to get it to work the way you like. It has to adapt and learn your speech patterns before it will interpret properly. The more time you take to actually work with the software, the easier it will become to utilize it in your day-to-day life. The key is to be patient, run tutorials with the program and work through the built-in accuracy and speed tests that come with it. Over time, you will wonder how you ever lived without speech recognition software.

Somehow, the idea of being able to have an intelligent conversation with my computer was always neat, but it also kind of creeped me out. It's crazy to think how fast this is turning into a real possibility, with all the AI they have nowdays.
I couldm't agree more with you I had a forced switch to a new software the other day but it all worked out just fine, like you say parctice & practice a little more.
