YouTube

YouTube.com is a site which allows users to view and share video clips free of cost. In the site users who have registered themselves can also upload videos of their choice and let other people see these video clips. The site also lets people post videos on their blogs and other personal websites very easily. But since any user can upload the video of his or choice onto the site, the copyright violations are very frequent. The site however performs a regular screening of the videos that have been uploaded and tries to make sure that there is no sexually explicit content in the videos that have been uploaded on the site.

Copying YouTube Videos

The videos in YouTube are encoded in the Macromedia Flash format. This prevents normal people from downloading these videos and making digital copies out of them. YouTube has taken such a measure to put a stop to the extensive circulation of copied video files which are illegal. Another reason as to why YouTube uses this format is because most of the computers support this format. However there are many ways available which let people get around this restriction that the the video sharing website has imposed on its users. A person who is well versed with the working of a computer can dig deep and get the videos from the temporary internet files. This is because the video that is being played will first have to be downloaded onto ones PC before it can be viewed. This video which has been downloaded would remain on the PC during the playback period. It has to be however mentioned here that the method of copying videos from the site is not ethically correct and is against the laws of the site.

Alternative

However if it is a big video clip that you are desiring to copy into your computer, it would be better to make some other entity do all the hard work of finding the file for you. There are several such entities online which allow the user to find and download the video clip one wants. One such website is known as KeepVid. Sites like this help the people to locate the desired video and to download it into your computer. What is required in such entities is just the knowledge of the URL of the page on which the video is on. Once the URL has been pasted onto such sites and once the site from which it is to be downloaded has been mentioned the site will get onto the mission of copying the particular video onto your PC.

After this step has been done all one has to do is to follow the instructions the site asks you to do for the purpose of downloading. Since the YouTube uses FLV Flash format it is not easy to play the file quickly. For the purpose of making it play faster the user would also need to have special applications which are designed for this cause.
