How to Find Out How Much My Your Home Is Worth

In this article i am going to explain a little trick to getting a value on your home with out shelling out 300+ dollars for an appraisal. Pros and cons of doing so.

So you dont want to spend over 300.00 for a real estate appraisal but you want to have some idea of what your house is worth. Hmmm okay i can help you out with that.

one option (altho it is not the best) is to check the valuation in your local town tax records via the assessor. The assessing department will show a value per the assessor of your house, or the house you are thinking of buying. This will be helpfull but in my experiences most town assessing values are lower than the actual value( altho in this real estate market that is changing fast)

2nd is to go to a real estate brokers office and ask them, hey how much do you guys charge for a BPO (broker price opinion) and you will be charged oh lets say apprx $ 100.00 for it. And the broker will used his/her method to come up with their opiono of value on your house. This is a better way to find a value on the property and get somewhere in the ballpark of what your potential home or current home is worth

You can also check some websites out if you live in larger metropolitan areas, and just type in your address to see sales in your neighborhood and i think they give you an estimate on you house, im not sure how in depth these sites are (or how they come up with a value) on your home but it is an option and most are for a fee.
