making mountains into mole hills

hi folks,

let me not greet you today with the usual cheer because today we have lost a great human being who lived as an ordinary human though his life was exemplary and extraordinary.

all of you know about Sir Edmund Hillary as the first man to have scaled mount Everest but there are lots of facts about this man which few will know.

Born: 20 July 1919

Birthplace: Auckland, New Zealand

Died: 11 January 2008

Best Known As: The first man to climb Mount Everest

Edmund Hillary and his Sherpa guide Tensing Norgay were the first humans to reach Earth's highest point: the summit of Mount Everest in the Himalayas. They reached the top at 11:30 am on 29 May 1953.

what is great about this fact is that it is not climbing mt Everest but acknowledging to the whole world that not he who scaled mt Everest but also his sherpa guide.quite a few will realise that TENZING norgay was a sherpa guide from Nepal. but this man sir EDWARD HILLARY gave him equal importance and shred a rare honour a tribute to a man who showed us the peak of mount Everest and the peak of humanity and to treat fellow human being.

he also photographed TENZING NORGAY AT THE PEAK as the only evidence . tenzing could not photograph SIT EDMUND at the highest altitude as in his own words SIR EDMUND said that that was not the place to teach lessons in photography.

Hillary also explored the Antarctic, reaching the South Pole in 1958.

Sir Edmund Hillary

Quotes:

"You don't have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things -- to compete. You can be just an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals."

"It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves."

HE AKLSO REACHED ARCTIC POLE WITH NEIL ARMSTRING ON A MICROLIGHT AIRCRAFT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE POLE .

EVEN IN HIS FAMILY LIFE he was a revolutionary who was the one of the few men to have made their future mother in law propose to his wife to be.

when his wife and teenage daughter was cruelly killed by fate in a freak air accident he once again married the widow of his close friend.

he brought o lime light the plight of the sherpa people and gave dignity honor and equal respect . he brought recognition to them , education to them and economy to them along with dignity and respect by building clinics, hospitals, two air strips, and schools in Nepal.

he was pleased when Inglis a double amputee scaled mt Everest.

Sir Edmund Hillary told smh.com.au he was very impressed by Inglis's achievement.

"'Quite obviously a remarkable effort to actually climb Mt Everest with a couple of artificial legs. And I have to admit that I admire his considerable effort ... he's done a pretty good job," said the 86-year-old, who together with Tenzing Norgay, reached the summit 52 years ago.

instead of living with the fame and capturing the celebrity status here is the man who had used it as a passport to lift up the lives of poor fellow humans and that is because this feat of reaching MT Everest has been achieved by two men who had been underdogs one a school level bee keeper and another a mountain living sherpa. an amazing victory for mankind because these humble souls have inspired humanity.

and it is sad that this day SIR ED HILLARY CEASED TO BE A HUMAN . may his soul rest in peace.
