How to build a website fast

This hub serves to provide information on how to build a websites. Firstly, I will cover the techniques to make a websites without HTML experience and third party websites. And then I will talk about the basics of html, how to upload files, and other stuff. The ultimate goal is to build a website ASAP.

Let's get into the zone...

Free websites services

The best way to get a website is using free services available online. They offer various templates and publish tools for you. And the only work on your part is to fill it with content. You can also customize the overall design. However, the freedom is rather limited because direct edition on HTML source code is not permitted usually.

Okay, here comes the list....

Blog Hosting Platforms

These allow you to just register and post content immediately (almost) after simple configurations. They run in form of blogs.

Blogger.com - http://www.blogger.com/

A popular choice for bloggers. Owned by Google currently. Offer numerous eye-catching templates and add-ons to enrich blogginer experience. Come with an Adsense module to make money from. (BTW I seldom use adsense on my sites.)

Wordpress.com - http://www.wordpress.com/

Another blogging platform using the wordpres engine. Beautiful templates and allow you to make customizations with PHP language. Huge base of plugins to support. If you own a web hosting, you can run wordpress on your server because there is a hosted solution at http://www.wordpress.org/ . It is more advanced with PHP as the core programming language.

Other blog platforms that you may be interested:

Tumblr - http://www.tumblr.com/

Xanga - http://www.xanga.com/ - very popular among my peers. Not sure if I should categorize as website, as it is like a profile page.

TypePad - http://www.typepad.com/

Social Platforms

Hubpages - http://www.hubpages.com/

The one I'm using here;) Easy to insert media like photos and videos. Include revenue modules.

Squidoo - http://www.squidoo.com/

Similar to hubpages. Publish content with numerous modules.

Free Websites Hosting

Geocities - http://www.geocities.com/

With built-in tool available. You can upload files. 15 MB disk space and 3GB data transfer. Ads sponsored.

Googlepages - http://www.googlepages.com/

A google attempt to offer free web hosting to end users. Currently migrated to http://sites.google.com Not much experience with this.

Freewebs - http://members.freewebs.com

A popular choice of free hosting. Elegant templates with rich features. 50M disk space with 500MB monthly bandwidth. The monthly bandwidth can be extended by including sponsored ads. Upload files using their built-in online tool. But it doesn't seem to offer free FTP access. Anyway, take a look!

Weebly - http://www.weebly.com/

A web 2.0 style site that offers an intuitive user interface to drag and drop pages for building websites. Simple and easy.
