Have you ever considered why tennis is called as a basic sport? To start off with, it's a fairly simple game to play but what stops us in our tracks is the physical aspects of it! In a competitive game, there are some well-known tricks you can use to prevent the feeling of dismay when you are losing a game. Getting to know the rules of the game is good since it will let you understand the game better the next time you watch it.

The court that is currently being used must be a regulations court. The size and maintenance that are observed will make sure that the players position on the court will have no impact whatsoever on the outcome of the match. There will be a net placed in the middle and two service lines placed in the middle. There will be two lines, one on each side of the net, running parallel to the net and is referred to as the baseline. This is the spot the players will position themselves to the start the game.

There will be lines that run along the sides of the court that determines the boundaries of the game, which is referred to as the alley. What is meant by singles and double? When a ball strikes the alley throughout a singles game, it is considered out. Interestingly, the alley can be used without incurring a penalty in a doubles tennis game. The same actions will produce different results in a single and doubles tennis game. To play the game, you need two players which one of them will serve the ball. To serve the ball, you would need to serve it to the other side of the court and hit the service box at the other side!

You can locate the service box at the right hand side of each player, it is actually quite a small box. You need to hit this box to make a successful serve. In fact, the ball must not only hit this service box, but must bounce off at least once for it to be considered a successful serve. All unsuccessful serve must be repeated.

Upon successful serve, the game escalates into the most exciting part. The ball will now have to be hit back and forth until one of the players fail to return it. To score points, then ensure that the ball is returned back every time it crosses the net and does not accidentally hit the alley when you send it to the other side. Your rival will get a point every time you fail to hit the ball back or if your ball hits the alley on the other side.

Each time the ball is missed, it will have to be served. The players take turns to serve the ball. Both players will have the chance to serve equally. This is merely a small introduction on the wonders of this sporting activity.
