Introduction

One of the most annoying problems for a motorcyclist it's the broken clutch cable often it breaks without warning, or discover that it is very worn and need to act quickly to replace it. The operation is simple, fast and affordable for everyone, even the less experienced or less "willing".

The braided metal sleeve inserted into the rubber with time and wear it sooner or later will break down, usually without warning, however, a useful hint for this inconvenience, it can be to check from time to time the end anchored to the lever clutch, in fact, is precisely at this point that the cable maintains the friction is increased and the most common of which can break leaving afoot. The operation of substitution, as already mentioned, is not complicated, just a minimum of care: follow our advice and you will too. Good Job!

Step 1:

Loosen the bottom of the log to screw next to the clutch lever on the handlebars, and then exit through the cable with the appropriate care to remove the cylindrical end of the cable from its housing.
The other end of the cable is dismantled in the same manner described in the preceding paragraph, nut and nut must be unscrewed with the appropriate key (often an 8 / 10).

Once released the cable at both ends you proceed with the removal. This operation is in itself very simple, but often it can happen that the cable is anchored to the frame with plastic cable ties, so that does not move and remains always in tension, so it is impossible to remove it, but you must instead proceed step by step, removing any hulls, plastic parts and often the tank of petrol! With a little 'patience you can do it without major problems.

Step 2:

For the replacement it shall be the same, but reversing the order of operations. Before you store in the appropriate slots, remember to grease the surface with special grease.

In the final it should be remembered that the control lever of the clutch must have a certain "game", ie a stroke before the "clutch-detachment" (often the value is shown on the book of use and maintenance). With the time, however the metal cable undergoes a stretch, which leads to an increase the "ride" of the lever, in which case you have to calibrate at the specified value (or even better, according to our particular driving needs!) acting on the two registers screw: oneĀ  it's located on the lever of the clutch, the another it's to the opposite. The tensors are usually the screw type and nut: Generally you need to loosen the nut, screw on the register until it hardens and then unscrew it as prescribed by the House. Finally, you locks the nut.

Conclusion: Now there is the hydraulic

Among the sports and tourism of big displacement is spreading the hydraulic clutch control, because it requires less effort. AI instead of the cable is a metal pipe, where there is a fluid, ie a special oil like the one that controls the brake disc. If your bike has a hydraulic control, you just check the fluid level in the tank, keeping strictly to the indications of the Manufacturer.
