I have always had a thing roasted bell peppers. They have such a wonderful flavor and can be used in many ways on pizzas, in salads, on sandwiches and they are even great on a piece of toast drizzled with olive oil. But sadly many people do not know how to roast pepper so they either buy a jar variety that can never measure up to the real thing or they just do without.

So I thought I could take a minute and teach people how to roast peppers.

How To Roast Peppers: Method # 1

When it comes to roasting peppers I find there are two main methods that I like to use. The first method is the quick way of doing thing and only cooks the peppers part of the way it leaves the peppers with a little crispness to them and has the wonderful roasted peppers flavor. But the best part about this method is that it is the faster method.

*Note* This method requires a gas burner.

To start with take and wash your bell pepper and pat dry with a paper towel. Next brush the peppers with a little vegetable oil. Now we need to fire up a gas burner.

Now with a pair of tong (hold the tongs with an oven mitt to protect your hand) take and hold one of the peppers over the gas flames and start charring the peppers on all side till it is blackened and blistered on all the way around.

After you charred the pepper toss them in a bowl and tightly cover with plastic wrap and let them sit for at least ten minutes or longer if they are still too hot to handle. After the peppers are cool enough to touch we need to peel the skin off.

Start by pulling the stem from the pepper it should come out very easy, next start pulling the charred skin off the roasted pepper. It should come off very easily, once all the skin is off cut the pepper open to expose the ribs and seeds. If you lay the pepper (ribs side up) on a cutting board and slide the back of your knife across the pepper and you can get all the seeds off in one shot.

Next slice the roasted pepper and enjoy.

How To Roast Peppers: Method # 2

The next how to roast peppers method is going to take a lot longer but the flavor and textures are amazing. This is also a great way to roast of pepper at the same time.

First preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Then wash and dry your peppers, next place the bell peppers on a sheet try lined with a little foil. Then brush the peppers with a little vegetable oil.

Next pop the pepper in the oven on the middle rack and start to roast now every twenty minutes we are going to turn the peppers make sure we roast each side evenly. You should be turning the pepper by the stems so that you do not tear up the peppers.

The peppers are going to roast for one hour and you should turn the pepper twice during the cooking process. After the hour take the peppers out of the oven allow to cool and then peel and seed the roasted peppers in the same way as you would in method one.

Again slice peppers up and then use them in your favorite method. And that is how to roast peppers.
