1) Lots of people like to eat out, I've know folks that never cook a meal at home.  This is an expensive habit.  If you don't no how to cook learn and start eating in, brown bag you lunch.  For the price you pay for a lunch at a fast food outlet you can buy lunch ingredients at the market and prepare your own lunch for several days.

2) Get out of the bottled water kick,  invest in a quality water filter and fill a bottle and take it with you.

3) If you smoke or drink a lot start cutting back, these are expensive habits and it in all likelihood extend your life or at least reduce the illnesses attributed to smoking and drinking.

4) Upgrade your homes lighting either with Fluorescent Bulbs or LED (light emitting Diode) fixtures.  I prefer LED's over Fluorescent Bulbs because they are fully solid state use much less power are mercury free and have life spans of 100,000 hours or more than 11 years.  Though the up front cost of LEDs is greater the overall savings is better, and today you obtain in pure white or soft whit which mimics incandescent lighting.

5) Use cash when purchasing products instead of a credit card, you'll know what your actual financial outlay is and you'll save yourself on those finance charges.

6) When shopping do price comparisons and don't forget those generic brands.  Most are just as good as name brand products.

7) Use the coupons retailers supply to low your final cost on your purchases.  If your area is like mines, several times a week a bag of discount coupons is dropped at my door use them for the items you regularly purchase and trade the ones you don't with you neighbors for other coupons you can possibly use/.

8) If purchasing a new appliance check it's energy star rating, this can save you money on your electric bills.

9) If your purchasing a new vehicle forget that SUV if it's not really needed to get around and shop for a vehicle that will give good to high gas mileage.  Also remember that the more electrical gadgets your vehicle has the more fuel is consumed when using these gadgets.

10) Make sure your home is well sealed, air drafts rob your home of heat in the winter increasing your heating cost and cost you during the summer months as cool air produced by your air conditioner leaks out of your house increasing your electric bill.
