How to set and achieve any goal
How to set and achieve any goal

I always used to fail with my goal-setting & achieving

Richard Bach wrote that "You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true".

Nearly all humans including me thinks of having$100,000,000 in the bank, drive new Lexus, look like a movie star, have a perfect health and have gorgeous partner. But just somehow lag behind on our goals. I can not say about you but whatever the job is I always start with great motivation and thinking that I will certainly complete present job at hand.

We all have been to told for years to write down our goals on a piece of paper. Then we have to decide step-by-step how we are going to achieve those goals and form a plan of action as detailed as possible. Now all you have to do just follow the plan.

Ah i am not alone :)

It brings some relief to me knowing that 97% of humans too fail in their efforts. But it does not solve my problem because what others may not achieve, and complete is my not concern. My concern and in fact your concern should be what you have to do and complete. No doubt not doing one's job brings great misery, and low-self esteem with it. Probably everybody is aware of this pang.

I think those traditional theory doesn't work because of following reasons.

1. We often have so many goals it is hard to know where to start and how to proceed.

2. We continually jump at different goals and as a result nothing gets done. You can just imagine a person who couldn't make out which plane to board and ended up with no plane to board. All flights have left.

3. It is hard to remember all the goals, we forget to motivate ourselves. Isn't it.

4. Enthusiasm and excitement wear off, procrastination sets in.

5. We don't have enough time for our goals, and we know that we are not giving enough time.

6. We do not have enough will power to follow through, which of course decides whether we suceed or not.

what can be done

I think very first techniques that we can employ is to analyse ourselves. Yes it's hard. First (let's assume my case) it took hard for me accept that i am not honest in my effort. This small realization took 23 years to me, I always used to thought that achieving 70% marks are enough in each standard, having a decent job is pretty good.

But still I was hiding something to accept even from myself that is I am hard at achieving goals. Anyway what helped me is here for everybody, and i think you will get benefit for certain if you identify anywhere with me.

1) The first step in overcoming procrastination is to recognize what psychological issues cause you to procrastinate in the first place. Self-defeating issues such as anxiety, fear, poor time management skills, indecisiveness, difficulty concentrating, and perfectionism can be major contributors to a lack of motivation. It's important to clarify your goals and then work to achieve them.

2) Motivation is the key to achieving success at work and at home. Motivation comes from within. Coming to grips with personal issues is the first step in realizing why you procrastinate and then taking steps to change. If you focus on self-discipline and proper time management, you will be able to change those habits that led you to be a procrastinator in the first place.

You can get motivated and stay motivated by implementing a few changes and observing a few personal rules. Observing and copying those who seem to always be a step ahead is also an excellent tool in overcoming procrastination.

3) If you have a friend or coworker who seems to be highly organized and efficient, ask for suggestions as to how you can do the same, and yes never ever feel ashamed for suggestions and why should you when so much is at stake.

4) Reward yourself for small steps taken towards your goals and be realistic in your expectations. As with any type of behavioral change, overcoming procrastination will not happen instantly. Change your work or study habits to minimize distractions and promote wise management of your time.

last but not the least for now

5) Positive thinking is a powerful tool that helps us build the life we want. It can make us beautiful and smart. It can get us the dream job with the excellent salary we always dreamed of. It can help us find our one true love. But we have to use them properly and we have to continue working with them regularly - to the point where it becomes such a habit that we ought to say them all the time.

Isn't it better maintaining such thoughts than keeping worthless ideas inside our head - the stuff we keep thinking about but doesn't really help us accomplish anything and, in many cases, may actually push us backwards?

Well well the least can get pretty long I know up to 27 techniques. But as Lord Krishna said to Arjuna in GITA, you should learn what you can for now. Believe me my hardest point was not implementing later points but First starting point of realizing that i am bad at achieving goals, remember it took me 23 years. So probably it's better to find out about yourself first. Your negative aspect, positive aspect, how to deal with all, what to do, how to do.

You can do it alone by being introspective, or you can use following tool by Arina nikitina of how-to-set-and-achieve-your-goals.com, it's her's brilliant 27 techniques that i know, you too should invest for a good future. She helps in every aspect of goal setting and achieving. Probably she is the only one on internet to do it.
