Paperless office always used to be dream of the past and that of the future. The concept of paperless office was first brought up in the late 90s. In the current year paperless office has already become a success with most of the multinational companies looking forward to switch to paperless office environment. Worldwide economic recessions are making the companies switch to techniques which enable the less usage of stationary items like paper, pencils and pens. If a paperless office is realized then firms can save up millions every year in the above mentioned stationary items. Even some of the staff members who are employed for managing such purposes can be used for betterment of the firm in other ways.

Ok, now we have finalized the decision to switch to a paperless environment. But how? Fear not, in this digital era all that is a childs play. Digital technologies like telecommuting maybe the answer. During the yester years firms were reluctant to do it because of various security concerns. They felt much control is needed for the environment in which they play about. But now with the advancement of technology many firms can easily master the control over their resources.

One of the important ingredients of a paperless office is the digital file cabinet. They are mostly plug and play with the current generation PCs irrespective of the OS. Most of them feature a single or multi touch input. Besides such devices can be connected to the internet and the employees can access their files sitting anywhere in the world provided that they have a working internet connection. It can also be transmitted in wireless form and can be received by users over the air in their handheld communication devices. This modified version of telecommuting is fast catching up with the SMBs.

Gradually going paperless, but it is a very hard thing to let go of, I guess most people just like to read off a paper hard copy.
