How to Unblock MySpace at School

MySpace has quickly become one of the most (if not the most) popular social networking websites in the world. People of all ages, but especially teens, use MySpace several times a day as a means of communication to keep in touch with friends and the latest news.

Teens, however, face a unique problem: their school administrators know how important MySpace is to their students and how much time they spend on it, and consequently block MySpace from being accessed from the schools. It’s annoying, frustrating, and a little insulting.

There are, however, several ways around these Internet roadblocks. The quickest and easiest to use, however, are proxy servers. This article will explain what proxy servers are, how they work, and how to use them to unlock MySpace.

A proxy server runs a website that displays other websites. When you type myspace.com into your browser on a school computer, the school network checks that web address request against a list of blocked addresses. MySpace, obviously, is on that list, so it blocks your web request and redirects you to a webpage informing you that that website is blocked (and warning you not to try to access it again).

When you type in the name of a proxy server website instead (a fictional example would be proxyserver.com), that web address is not on the banned website list, and so it lets the request through. From the proxy server website, you can access MySpace. The web proxy server essentially just lets you sidestep the roadblocks your school network throws up.

You can find the web address for a proxy server anywhere. There are hundreds of them across the globe. Of course, some sites are better than others. One of the best is azproxies.com. Although not technically a web proxy server itself, it functions as a portal to proxy servers. A-Z Proxies attempts to maintain a list of all web proxy servers in the world, so you can just take your pick from the hundreds they list. If you’re worried about security, they even have a few links to proxy servers secured with SSL encryption.

Best of all, they have a “Go Random” button that randomly picks a proxy server from their list and redirects you there. This is very useful. School network administrators aren’t stupid. If every kid in school is using the same proxy server day after day, the school network admin will eventually notice all the traffic to that site and investigate it. Once they realize it’s a proxy server, they may block that website, too.

Using a different proxy server each time you access MySpace will help cover your tracks, and reduce the chances of a school network admin noticing and blocking your proxy server site. A-Z Proxies is ideal for this tactic due to its huge list of proxy server websites and random choice button. Having your friends use A-Z Proxies as well will keep any one web proxy server site from getting too much traffic.
