Treating Acne

Learning proper skin care certainly goes a long way in acne treatment. Having blemishes can cause deep anxiety no matter the age of the person dealing with it. Pimples are one of the most common forms of acne and sometimes the hardest to treat. It starts to happen between the ages of 11-14 when puberty normally begins. Most people want to know how to get rid of pimples fast. Acne and pimples can take time to heal, so learn what you can do to alleviate this painful and unsightly disorder.

The first step in getting rid of pimples, is to cleanse your face twice a day using soaps with natural ingredients. The main goal is to keep your pores clean. On the market today, there are unlimited over the counter medicines that one can use. Most of these products contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Both these ingredients may make your skin dry and flaky as their main goal is to reduce oil production.

As far as the diet goes, drinking filtered water is essential. Avoid refined sugar and fatty foods. Foods rich in vitamins and omega 3's keep your skin moist, healthy and supple. Vitamins A, B5 and E go a long way in preventing acne. Copper, zinc and selenium may build immunities and help to regenerate skin damaged by acne.

Natural ingredients to look for are, tea tree oil, aloe vera, sulphur soap and chamomile. Lemon juice or apple cider vinegar are good natural toners that minimize excess oil on the skin's surface. The eucalyptus is known to be a great antiseptic as well as an astringent. The herb, witch hazel, is used in many over the counter medicines and is primarily an astringent too. I often use hydrogen peroxide to make sure no infection sets in after a pimple has drained.

Lastly, exercising increases our blood flow and helps our bodies to build immunities. Regardless of what you think about the sun, we need about 15 minutes of it everyday. The body produces natural vitamin D when exposed to the sun. If you do not want to be in the sun, I would suggest vitamin D supplements but a large dose is needed to adequately keep levels high enough to help our skin stay healthy. There are some studies that show the reduction of caffeine is beneficial as caffeine increases the level of stress hormones in the body. Stress is one of the major factors in adult acne today.
