What are Love Handles?

The term “love handles” refers to the layer of fat that is found around a person’s midsection. Love handles can be a source of embarrassment for men and women. They also can affect how low a person perceives himself or herself. In truth love handles are easy to get. All it takes is an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise. Getting rid of them is another case.

Easier to Get Than to Get Rid Of

Compared on how easy to get love handles, it is difficult to get rid of them, but you need to understand that there are effective ways on how to get rid of them. One of them is what we call spot reduction. It is cutting fat off from one area. This is not easy but this is not the only way to do away with them.


Two Practical Ways To Get Rid Of Love Handles

1. Eating the right food

There a lot more different exercises and routines that you can follow to get rid of those awful love handles. Love handles are fat deposits situated around the midsection of the body, so the first step to get rid of them is to get rid of fat. Easting healthy or eating the right necessary food and making sure that you burn more than you take in can make the noticeable difference you’ve always wanted. Love handles are one of the most difficult places to burn fat. So make sure that you are not taking in unneeded fat that could basically be adding to love handles. Love handles are more common in women than men because women have the tendency to store more of their fat around the midsection. It is therefore important for women to watch what they eat.

2. Exercising the whole body

Getting rid of your love handles is not that difficult, it just needs a little bit of effort and dedication. It is very important to make sure that your physical routines and exercise work out all parts of your body, because it is not possible to program our weights or aerobics to burn particular areas of fat. To burn fats effectively and loose weight, you must stimulate the stored up fat cells which are in the adipocytes that store energy. Exercising stimulates the adipocytes to release the fat which the muscles can burn as energy. The more you exercise, the more adipocytes are stimulated and so it follows that there are more fats released and burned as energy.

Exercises stimulate the stored up fat all over your body. You will be able to lose weight as well as tone certain problem areas such as the love handles with exercise. Your exercise must be exercises does not only target certain but the whole body. Performing your normal sit ups or crunches alone does not stimulate the stored up fat all over your body, thus is not that effective.

Certain exercise routines such as aerobics or step classes will be able to get your blood pumping, your heart rate up, and your adipocytes stimulated. It is important to make sure that your entire body is involved in your exercise routine, in order to achieve your maximum weight loss. At least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise four times a week in addition to weightlifting and toning exercises, will effectively get rid of the extra fat in your body and tone up the muscles that are located under that fat. Love handles can be a scary thing, but they are very easy to get rid of as long as you put in time, effort and a bit of discipline.

The reason why this doesn't work is because YOU CANNOT SPOT REDUCE, i have a degree in movement science with a concentration of health fitness and you cannot spot reduce...the only way u can get rid of love handles is cardio cardio cardio....yes u can tone ur body which can help burn fat quicker but u cannot spot redduce people

Of course it works! It's diet and exercise people... why wouldn't it work? If you guys haven't noticed, all that anyone will tell you to do is eat right and exercise 3-5 times a week. And no- you can't get rid of *just* love handles, you'll lose weight all over... isn't that a good thing? So you think its "fake" huh? Haha are you sure that you are eating right.. AND getting some cardio in a few times a week?? Good luck with that if you arent.

THERE IS NOO SPOT REDUCTION..!! when i was 16 i weight 190 most of it was love handles and like hips midsection all that area what helped me shed my weight was thi sbasic plan

-go to the gym every other day -elliptical burn500 calories - weights -situps/crunches 200 (At the gym only)-watch my calories no more than 1500 calories per day -no soda -no coffee - LOTS OF GREEN TEA - eat junk just watch calories plus servings

- WALK.. walk walk walk walk i cant emphasize the importance of walking walking will allow movement just walk for an hour straight every day i guarantee u wll lose weight...get a cheap mp3 player for like ten bucks...load about 20 songs...and just keep walking until youre done

- what i acutally did was i bought a dog...and id just go take her for a walk :D

- dont be a bum keep up with ur schedule and dont make excuses...

---once you quit it will take forever to get back

- let people know that you want to lose weight..dont be embarassed after al you are better than thsoe fat bums who dont do anything

- DONT HAVE ANY EXPECTATIONS....just do it throw away your weight scale...hide it

throughout the course of weightloss you will have your ups and downs...your ups will raise your hopes..and your downs will completely depress you...dont emotional wreck your body...just know htat whatever you do its all leading to betterment

also when u start to lose weight..you will actually look bigger becuase you just lose random fat deposits so for mei lost alot of upper body weight in the beginning, which caused my lower body to look huge..this happens..dont get discouraged...it will get better TRUST ME :D

i also think that you cant follow a fixed diet..it all depends on your determination and how well you know yourself and your body....just trust yourself...and you will prevail :D

yea i agree with anony, everything he said. jus make sure to eat right, and exercise. walk a lot, but make sure you have the right shoes, OR YOU WILL GET BLISTERS. and they will make you not want to walk.. if you have a car, that could be one of your main culprits. since gas has been getting higher by the day i haven't been able to afford it and just have been walking and biking everywhere and even taking the lightrail/bus..

another thing that helped me see results is to eat right. i only eat organic foods now. sugary and salty junk foods make you crave them right..? well, organic foods have the same effect. but you need to make an automatic change, and you will see yourself start to crave organic foods even more than junk food.

this is what i did. i completely cleaned out my fridge, freezer, panty, and EVERYTHING into organic, healthy food. mainly things that you can grow, or prepare to eat, that way, i wont have any temptations [[chips, soda, brownies lol]]

then i bring snacks with me so i wont be tempted to fast food, THIS WILL SAVE YOU MONEY. believe me.

so then if you eat foods that you only need, you wont overeat. rather than if you see foods that you want, you will overeat to sugary things becuase theya re there and taste good.

Eat 3 Meals a day! I can't stress this enough. Make sure they are healthy! If you end up skipping a meal you will be starving and more tempted to binge eat later on! If you don't get a cardio exercise you won't burn the fat, its that simple. You could be doing 100 crunches a day and have rock hard abs, but never see them because they are under your belly fat that needs to be worked off in other ways.

screw diet and excerzie, just work hard at your job, save up like 4 grand and suck the crap out of your fat, you get to have your cake and eat it too.

btw, drinking 8 glasses of h2o a day is myth, you get about 4 alone in the food you eat, so dont bloat yourself with water...gor for burr

I agree with eating right and exercising. my moto is if you don't like it do something about it. Yeah, it is easier said than done.

Its easier to eat, so we all know when it comes time to lose what took months to put on its going to take some work, for some: hard work. This is a help forum to help those who really want help to maintain not on;y their looks but their health and feel good about it.

Every day I go walking,(key word ) if i dont do any other exercises I walk,walk,walk,walk,walk . its pretty simple.I break a sweat, which is a good thing, because it shows effort and its a step towards where I want to be. I know me I dont like waiting for anything and I want to see results fast but i know that I have to have patience. Without patience you will fail .

Don't bash yourselves have patience, do your part and (eat heathier meals at least 3 times a day and exercise at least 30min - 1hour) the body will do its part, either it will do good or bad, depends on us .

hey thought i would say i have been looking for easy ways to lose fat and its just not as simple as that.. it sure does take time and commitment. eat right drink water. and green tea which they say really helps. excersise all the time , dont run your self into the ground but get out and be active . when you look at ur self in the mirror think positive it will spur you on

for those people who actually had something usefull to say on the subject, thank you. i know have a few diffrent perspectives on the matter and hopefully can come to a decision on how to lose those god awful love handles. for others trying to do the same good luck!

I cycle between 4 - 5 timesa week commuting to work and back and still have an issue with love handles. The main issue is without a doubt a healthy diet. i love a beer and have a sweet tooth to boot.

Will power along with regular exercise is without a doubt the answer.

Simple equation for guaranteed weight loss - burn more calories than you consume. End of, simple as that.

Need to take my own advice and stop.........reduce the beer intake!

it is very important to cut sugars, potatoes, pasta and flour products. It is not enough to just eat low fat food and continue eating the products i mentioned cause there will be no results although you excersise. Not every job is hard and physical so of course it will not help working hard in your office because you are sitting and most of us have cars and sedentary style of life. Eat low Gi and low fat food just for a week to test if it really works. You will be surprised. Do not count calories just eat untill you are full. but eat right food. all low fat milk products ( mozarella,low fat chesase,yoghurt, milk...), fruits ( but not watermelon ) , vegetables ( all but not corn ) and meat ( low fat parts ). i am on this type of healthy food for 2 years already and have no problems with weight. Of course i do some exceptions but only sometimes and eat chocolate, pasta or potato...but it is not often like before. I know that it will make me fat again. And the diet , healthy diet is the most important. even more important than excersises. hope i helped to you. tell me results in 2 weeks of this regim. good luck to all !!

maybe i go in so much detail but i want to help. i remember how much time i was learning what to do to losse them and now i am telling you all that worked for me. it is not just i read somewhere and did not practiced. i really tried all this and i had big results with this program :

1. EATH HEALTHY :

EAT BREAKFAST !!!!!! AND AT LEAST 2 MORE MEALS ( LUNCH AND DINNER ) IF YOU ARE HUNGRY BETWEEN MEALS DO NOT STARVE, EAT BUT HEALTHY , NOT SOME JUNK FOOD. DINNER SHOULD BE AT LEAST 3 HOURS BEFORE GOING TO BED.

a) diatery products ( all light ones )

b) vegetables ( all but not corn and potato )

c) fruit ( all but not watermelon, melon, pineapple ...) we all need carbs , you must not cut them but be careful not to eat too much fruit if you want faster results

d) meat ( with no fat )

e ) eggs

f) nuts ( but not so much )

g) lots of water, grean tea ( even better is white tea ). THIS WILL DETOXIFY YOUR BODY, you will be healthier and slimmer, it will speed up your metabolism.

do not eat bread, cookies, sweets, sweet drinks, juices,pasta, potatoes...

important !!!

from my experience, second and the third day are the worst. the body was craving for all junk food, and specially for sweet things. Do not give up your program. the 4th or 5th day starving for sweets will just go away. it is incredible. it seams like the body is cleaning itself in the first few days from sweets and junk food. it is like drug users who want to give up using drugs. i was addicted to sweets and coca cola.

2. exercise

a) the biggest results will give you aerobic exercises ( biking,running, jogging,aerobics, jumping ...) choose what you like. make yourself a weekly program and folow it.

i go by bike to my workplace ( it is 1 hour a day by bike )and sometimes i go to aerobics or running with my friends or inline skating or running in fitness studio...

i bought few days ago a trampolin. i heard jumping is the most effective exercise in loosing fat. wheather it is jumping on trampolin or rope jumping, your lymph system . experts say, activate and metabolism starts to speed up a lot and all toxins start to go out your body. i will try this. they recommend 30 minutes a day.

i must try this :)

b) if you do side bends, twists, side crunches..it is good to do,i recomend this to you but it is just not enough doing alone. you must sweat to burn fat !!! :(

3. COSMETIC PRODUCTS

you can buy them on market and are usually not so expensive. but they will have no effect if you dont develope healthy eating habits and exercising habits.

i hope i helped... sorry for this long post but wanted to help so that you can find all in one place, something that is already tried and gave results..usually those details are those that are missing in articles and without detailed information we miss results. :( hope i gave you enough details :)))

follow this program without cheating and in a week i garanee you will se results. this will motivate you to continue this program.

take a centimeter tape and a scale to measure youself :) the best is always in the morning before eating anything.

The best way is just to run all the time. if you want to see amazing results do it twice a day and eat healthy. i know, twice is alot. so just start out about once a day and work your way up. if you get tired and really down on watever, just go to youtube and look at people who have lost all the weight to kind of give u some confidence in yourself.. thats what i did and it worked great!
