There are tons of options to actually make a little bit of pocket change from your favorite video games that lots of people do not realize, I hope that I can open your eyes a little bit and give you some good ideas! Of course you probably won't be able to quit your job and just play video games. There are plenty of people out there that do not have the time to play the games they love how much they would want to in order to accomplish certain feats in the game. This is true for a lot of games such as World of Warcraft, Conquer Online, Runescape ETC. It doesn't matter if the game is free to play or not there is an economic price for items and money in the game with real world money. However it should be noted that this can sometimes be considered against the TOS and can get you banned. Does doing this ruin the economy? Well yes if you are intentionally ruining the economy for other people such as killing a particular creature over and over again with the intention of making a dime an hour, you will ruin the game for others. However if you are a casual player such as myself and you just want to move on to another game and sell your account or items, there isn't nothing wrong with that. There have even been a couple of times where I make a quick $10 to pay a monthly fee for my game by doing something for someone or giving them some money. Really all you need to do is think about if someone would pay you $2 or $3 to do this for them?

First Rule

Do not ruin the game for others, even if it isn't against the TOS to sell in game items for real world currency be considerate of others. They may be your next customer, or they could be your downfall by announcing that no one should deal with you because of how you don't care about anyone else. Word of mouth is going to be your best friend, don't ruin your reputation.

Runescape Example

Just a small example is using the completely free game, Runescape. This is a pretty fun game and I play it every now and then when I get bored. But I have a membership... Why you may ask if I don't even play it all that much? I can make a couple Million gold fairly easily when bored and according to vgoldseller.com 1 million Runescape gold is almost 4 bucks, 1.5 Million and I have free membership for a month. I can do this in a day, of course I do not ruin anyone elses experiences at all. I will be attempting to get some dragon items ETC. Then I just sell whatever I don't want that drops and make a cool million and sell it. Ebay, craigs list, word of mouth all good options.

I don't want you to debunk the credibility of this guide because I list Runescape first hah. As I do not sell World of Warcraft gold anymore for fear of loosing my main accounts and I wouldn't want to suggest anything that could loose yours too.

Leveling Service?

You could also get into a leveling service and play around with it if you are more serious. Post a listing on Craigslist and wait until you get an Email about it. Ignore all of the advertisers that will email you. They do me all of the time whenever I post anything on craigslist. Make sure to charge on average of about 3 dollars a prospected hour. Who is willing to pay a full time income for someone to play their character on a game? Not likely, but it will be a fun 3 dollars an hour right?

Real Word Economy Games

Second Life is a great place if you haven't already tried it out. Although you won't make much or anything and some people actually loose my because they spend money to get in game money trying to make more money. This is a good idea in principal but if you are interested in a new game and wouldn't mind trying it out here is a good guide to get your started.

Mini Game Money Makers

Some sites offer you some money that you can either wager or whatever they have. All you do is play mini games and make money doing it. I have never made a dime off of a site like this but here are a few that you could look into if the idea sounds interesting.
