4 Tips for Keeping Your Arteries Clear and Your Heart Strong
64Health
There are several things you can do to keep your arteries clear and your heart strong. You should avoid eating certain fats. You should not smoke. You should add certain foods to your diet, and, of course, you should exercise.
What kind of fats should you avoid to keep your arteries clear and your heart strong? The two kinds of fats you should avoid are trans fats and saturated fats. Trans fats lower HDL (good) cholesterol and elevates LDL (bad) cholesterol. Saturated fats causes atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and coronary heart disease (a heart attack). In a word: Both fats are bad for you because they clog your arteries not allowing blood or essential nutrients to travel throughout your body. Because of that, they can be fatal to your health. Some examples of foods containing the bad fats are fried chicken, french fries, pizza, and hamburgers.
Similar to trans fats and saturated fats, smoking leads both to atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease also. Like them and for the same reasons, smoking, too, should be avoided.
What foods should you consider adding to your diet and why? You should consider adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet because they contain antioxidants that help to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. Some examples are red grapes, cranberries, tomatoes, and onions. You should consider adding olive oil to your diet because it elevates HDL (good) cholesterol. You should consider adding more fish to your diet because it contains omega 3 fatty acids that help reduce your risk of having a heart attack. Examples of fish you should consider adding to your diet are salmon, catfish, flounder, tilapia, and mahi-mahi. You should add 100% whole grain breads and cereals together with raisins to your diet since they help to lower your blood pressure. Finally, you might consider having a glass of wine and a piece of dark chocolate to your diet because they both aid in elevating your HDL (good) cholesterol.
Last, what kind of exercise should you perform to keep your arteries clear and your heart strong? You should do cardio-exercises because they make your arteries more elastic, thus, allowing blood and nutrients to flow easily throughout your body. Some examples of cardio-exercises are running, walking-put some ump into it; biking, swimming, and step aerobics.
Following these tips will give you both clear arteries and a heart strong.
