Really good French Toast

French toast or eggy bread is so easy to make and it is so quick and easy to make French toast. the title of this dish is confusing though because it is not really toast. I find if I am having one of those days when I am not really hungary or feeling a bit under the weather then French toast makes a satisfying snack. My children when they were young used to love it and now I make it for my grandchildren because their parents say they can't make it as good as me. I think they say that so they don't have to bother making it.

How to Make French toast

The ingredients you will need are sliced bread (this is just as good if you use up stale bread) I use one egg per slice of bread and about eight tablespoons of milk.Salt and pepper to tast and butter to fry the bread in.

In a bowl beat an egg and then add the milk, melt the butter in a frying pan (I always add a bit of oil so the butter doesn't burn. Add salt and pepper to the egg mix. You can cut the bread in halves and then soak it in the mixture and  then turn it over to ensure both sides of the bread are coated. Pop it into the frying pan and cook till golden brown on both sides. Easy french Toast

French toast with added ingredient

This is just a slight deviation from the original recipe but a nice touch is to add slices of cheese or cooked bacon to one slice you have dipped in the mixture then dip the other slice in and place on top then fry the bread till the cheese melts it tastes really good. Alternatively you can turn this into a sweet dish by adding sugar or maple syrup --Enjoy
