In  Search Of Happiness 

Homo sapience to modern men, from the very remote days of discovery of fire, finding out of an idea of a wheel and of being expert to study what a seed does mean to the present day of successful exploration of the space has been a long journey, a journey in pursuit of happiness and happiness of mankind, an evergreen enigma, has been defined and redefined time and again. The incessant demand for happiness in the human beings finds its root at the fear of the unique insecurity of life itself. In order to remove this greatest of the hurdles nature has blessed them with the power to rearrange and recreate and this has paved the never-ending attempts to taste the nectar of happiness.

Generally a man seems to be happy if he finds himself in a position higher than that of his relatives or friends or neighbors. A man, again, seems to be happy if he earns or collects all the elements of modern day comforts, from a four wheeler to electronic gadgets to dancing and drinking night life and to such more. Yes, he is happy if he receives favor of the fortune. But to own property great and small is to invite anxiety in any region of the world as there remains a possibility of loosing them always.

Thus the glorious struggle of mankind to win over nature and victories after victories achieved forced one to face what is called conscience and this conscience raises a question if the secret to finding a contented middle ground between having what one wants and wanting what one already has. Hence it is a realization that a man is happy if he has learned the art of sacrifice in life. Hence the the realization is that a man is happy if other men surrounding him and even other forms of life in his environment are not unhappy. Hence his happiness vanishes when the twin towers of the World Trade Centre is destroyed or the blind carpet bombing takes the lives of the innocent children of a hospital in Bagdad.Yes, each injury, from a gunfire or a suicide bombing, makes him unhappy. A man can hardly be happy if hunger or hatred or violence of any form invites hell around him. A man feels happy if he finds coercion has been banished and if he finds human rights are honored to the letters and thus he can sing with the legendary Pete Seegar : I think as I please and this gives me pleasure.....
