Step Down to Step Up

I love how humility defines “a peacefulness of heart that allows you to stand aside in order to affirm the value of someone else”.  Being humble does not mean that your weak rather in opposite, it shows your strength.  Because humility recognizes that the needs of others are just as important as our own needs.  This alone takes huge self awareness.  We must face pride, resentment or anger to be humble.  Not my own words but someone else I learned from is that “humility is thinking of yourself less not think less of yourself”.  I think some of these wise words can be foundation in our lives for better living.  Let’s look into what hinders us from living a humble life what keeps us from having happy and peaceful life.

Pain

We all have been hurt before.  And we vow never to hurt again because the pain at the time was too much to take and too long to heal.

Pride

“Whatever the situation, our desire not to be hurt again can make us defend ourselves by trying to impress others.” – Gary Chapman. We loose ourselves by hiding behind our pride.

Anger

When others put themselves first do we get angry?  So if they do it then I’ll be the same?  Why should I when others don’t?  Building up resentment and anger keep you from having peaceful life.

Worth

It’s important to recognize the needs of others are just as important as our own needs.  Humility recognizes worth of others.

“Humble people are secure in who they are.  They recognize their own value as well as the value of others and are therefore pleased to see others succeed.” – Gary Chapman

Therefore, humility represents security.  We don’t have to pretend nor impress others to look better for ourselves.  It’s when we step down we really step up and become a better person outside and inside.

I think alot of people get humility confused with humiliation . In the dictionary It says It Is the lack of arrogance or self Importance . A mentor of mine told me humility Is doing something nice for someone and being anonymous .

I like humble people . Humble people are usually thankful people and thankful people are usually happy people . How could you not find that an attractive quality ? One thing I do now , I do not poesess that all the time but It Is something I seek In my journey .
