Children suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD (sometimes also referred to as ADD) are four times more likely to have mental health problems when they grow up than other children.

Teachers, as a profession, are well placed to observe hyperactivity problems in children as they are well versed with age-appropriate behavior and obviously misbehaviour. Actually teachers have been found more sensitive at identifying children with hyperactivity disorders than were their own parents.

Many normal children will also show low levels of the symptoms associated with ADHD, namely behaving in an impulsive, inattentive, and restless fashion. theselow level hyperactivity symptoms generally do not cause mental health problems. However, those who display extreme hyperactivity symptoms will more likely go on to develop personality dysfunctions in later adolescence and even adult life.
