A New Day at Hyundai Canada

More than any other international automotive manufacturer, Hyundai means to make a sizable dent in the Canadian car sales market. This April showed impressive sales figures with a 14.8 percent increase over numbers a year ago. This while the overall Canadian auto market shrunk by nearly 18 percent. With both sales, and design, Hyundai Canada seems to be doing something right.

Many of the Hyundai Canada products are very strong performers amongst other brands unlike in the US.  While it appears Ford is currently leading the pack on total units sold in Canada this year, the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe and Genesis Sedan appear to be the future of automotive endeavors in Canada.  In multiple newspapers the two cars receive rave reviews, with the North Shore News calling the Genesis Coupe, “a car that growls” and noted its reasonable price range.

Genesis Sedan

Since I gave such high praise to the Hyndai Canada Genesis Coupe below, a friend mentioned I should share some info about the Sedan version of this car.  Keep in mind I haven't seen the actual version of this car in person yet, so I'm just compiling info from trusted sources on this one!

The four-door Genesis sedan comes in several different options, ranging in price from around $38,000 to just under fifty-grand.  Again, this car is real-wheel drive giving it a much sportier feels than most sedans in it's size.  The model I did the most research on (2009 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Technology Package 6AT) has 290 horsepower with a 3.8 liter, 4 valve engine.

Standard features include power sunroof, fog lights, leather seats, 2 zone climate control, 6-CD stereo changer and 15 interior speakers!

This year marks the arrival of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe (pictured right) to the Canadian market. This is the 2-door version of the 2009 Canadian Car of the Year award winner, "Genesis" sedan. This coupe version features a V6 engine creating 210 horsepower, and is just a wee bit shorter than the 4-door sedan.

The base pricing starts at just under $25,000, with the highest level topping out at aournd $40,000. You can build your own model and get manufactuer pricing at the Hyundai Canada website.

Edmunds.com takes the 4-Door Genesis for a little ride.
