i dream of peace

By Cris A

i dream of peace. in that quiet place

between stupor and death. i dream of

poets writing odes that break down walls

that obscure the meaning of grassy knolls

and oriental skin. i dream of peace in

the morning when light descends on the

land that divides. baring blood spilled

over blood that nobody owns but greed.

i dream of flowers in the fields swaying

to the music of change. change that fells

many a foe and friend. change that must

be gained through war and suffering our

children. i dream of children dancing in

the rain that fall from the sky like the

voice of God, but even God can only

exist in dreams. i dream of beauty in

men's hearts. beauty that doesn't dazzle

but enlighten, beauty that gives birth

to solace but not solitude. i dream of

silence amidst war. i dream of silence

without war. but silence does not mean

peace. silence is turning off the light so

you cannot see. peace is beyond calm.

i dream of peace. yes, i dream of peace.

I hope my friend the sun will rise again and this time we would find ourselves in a better world that knows peace. Yet, i find this dream in the hands of our fellow politicians and i hope they do dream of peace (and work for it) rather than having secret agendas (not talking about anyone in particular!!)
