iPod Tutorial

Do not continue reading this page if you are one of those brainy, born-with-a-computer-in-your-hand, techie kind of person. I want to talk about ipod tutorial for beginners. For people who just got their first ipod, or just need some more information on how to work with their ipod.

A lot of people are very surprised to realize ipods don't come with an ipod tutorial. And later are surprised again that they need to learn how to use itunes. As I've said before: this is not an easy task for everyone. On the contrary. Some people are actually struggling to use itunes. And that's why itunes and ipod tutorials are so important.

What features should appear in an iPod Tutorial?

As apple's video shows, ipods have many exciting features. Any worthwhile ipod tutorial should cover at least the following features:
  • Listening to music (playlists)
  • Watching videos (movies, tv shows, music videos)
  • Watching photos (slideshow)
  • Listening to audiobooks, podcasts.
  • Operating the controls: clickwheel, buttons, switches
  • Navigating through the menu system
  • The ipod's settings and options
  • Troubleshooting, because sometimes things just don't work

The iPod Touch has its own ipod tutorial, since it has brand new features that other ipods lack. If you have an ipod touch, make sure your ipod tutorial covers these features:
  • Browsing the internet using the Safari application
  • Buying songs online using the iTunes wifi music store
  • Using the "finger interface - scrolling, zooming in and out, etc.

Choosing the right ipod tutorial for you

Don't forget one important thing. An ipod tutorial might be about ipods, but it is YOU who is supposed to use it. Whether your ipod tutorial is a book, a web site, or even tutorial video guides, it should match your level.

If you are a beginner, make sure the setup stage (like installing itunes) is detailed. That buying music online and syncing it to the ipod is explained in a way you can easily understand and follow.

A good ipod tutorial will get you using your ipod as soon as possible, so you can enjoy every minute of it.
