iStormer.com Review: Scam, or Mobile Apps Juggernaut?
63Smelling Out the Latest Scam?
After you review enough products, launches like the iStormer iPhone mobile apps category tend to wave the red flag hard. Yeah, "Earn $20,000 in a day," got it, heard it before, not going to bite this time ... you DON'T get my money.
Except that I heard about iStormer from a software producer that I both respect and trust, and I couldn't help myself .... I had to pull out my own wallet and take a peak at the complete product.
My findings were shocking and revealing, so keep reading for the full scoop below ....
iStormer: All Its Cracked Up to Be?
iStormer - Not a geek or coder: Can I still do it?
iStormer is an easily downloadable ebook of 59 pages.
The three major propositions made by Simon Hodgkinson, author, are that:
(1) You don't need to be a computer genius or iPhone app coding geek to make this thing work for you ...
(2) ANYONE can do it, and ....
(3) Simon will show you exactly how to tap into the millions being made in the iPhone apps (applications) market.
There are currently over 15,000 applications available in the Apple iPhone store, with over 500 million (yes, million) downloads of iPhone apps in January 2009 alone.
Wow.
Is THAT a market, or what?
Oddly, this connection with Apple begins to erase any hint of scam, because an API developers license has to be obtained and a $99 fee paid to Apple to even open the door to this project.
This is simultaneously a firewall to prevent the average "get rich quick" internet marketing scammer from being involved, as Apple can exert some heavy legal firepower if anyone "messes" with their lucrative app market ... and also a barrier to the average part-time "stay at home in my basement and make a million" mindset internet affiliate program participant who wants the easiest possible way to "make their million."
(Of course, we all know that they are doomed from the start, right? The "hobbyist" mindset -- rather than actually treating whatever they are doing as an actual BUSINESS (even if part-time) .... is why most fail.)
That aside, iStormer is beginning to look like it might really BE something, even if it ISN'T for everyone. Let's look at some inside details.
iStormer: Profiting from the "Mobile Revolution"
The training materials are divided into 5 easy-to-read sections:
(1) Brainstorming & Researching Profitable iPhone Apps
(2) Developing Your Own iPhone App
(3) Marketing Your Own iPhone App
(4) Making Money Through Other Channels, and
(5) Using Leverage to Make Money in the Apps Market
We'll focus on the first three here, because they are the most relevant to answering our earlier questions about who can actually use this approach to create income ... and is the mobile phone market a viable one for average internet marketers to get into?
Can I Create an App Using iStormer?
Simon Hodgkinson deals with this central question right away, because if you CAN'T, then this ebook is not for you.
He uses a very clear "4 S" formula to guide his discussion of this topic, and while I can't reveal too much for obvious copyright reasons, I would say the average marketer would emerge from this section feeling that this market is not quite so big and scary .. and even doable.
Simon has a very clear writing style, and in an age when paid writers from all across the globe are churning out barely readable crap, it is a relief to finally see a well-laid-out, clear, usable training manual in the (often shameful) internet marketing industry.
The ideas and suggestions he makes are all realistic, and while not to be rushed, you should be able to figure out a viable market with a week or so of part-time research.
Should I Develop My Own iPhone App, Or Outsource It?
While Simon Hodgkinson discusses both options, he smartly spends most of his time focusing on how to outsource your application development .... because let's face it, most of us are NOT coding geeks, and while we may be able to handle the marketing end, we are playing in a very big market here which is not forgiving of mistakes ... and neither is Apple.
He talks about where to find the right programmers and developers on the internet and off, with some warnings about trying to cut corners in the wrong places (which could scuttle your project.)
He also talks about how to actually hire your programmer, and how to deal with the Apple application process. This takes about 2 weeks.
While not overly long, there is plenty of to-the-point information and links here to get the job done, and get your project rolling.
Marketing Your New iPhone App
Ahh, now we are in OUR element .... MARKETING! (hopefully.)
If you are not already an experienced internet marketer, Simon is not going to create a complete course here on how to "do" internet marketing .. yet, I found his approach quite thorough, and if you lifted his marketing section and plopped in down in any other product manual it would be a pretty good start!
He covers a good variety of marketing techniques, and talks about one recent app developer who used a particular free wrinkle to shoot his program to the top of the iPhone apps charts.
In fact, I just looked today, and this particular program, iShoot, is ranked among the Top 10 apps at the App store. (BTW, the author pocketed over $35,000 in just one day with it, and quit his job. Can you do that with just any typical internet product?)
Will you?
Could you?
While that remains to be seen, I think Simon has laid out all the basic nuts and bolts to get most people out of the gate and started in this VERY lucrative market.
2 reasons why iStormer may NOT be for you
Frankly, it might actually be easier to profit here than in the internet marketing ebook market, because you have to find a great marketing hook, some valid information, get it written, and pull off a strong launch what may only last a few days or weeks at best. These apps have a far larger potential.
The downside is that it is not a "free" market to get into, and will probably require a few hundred in development cash at a minimum.
It is also not an "overnight" market .. some groundwork and legwork is required here, waiting for Apple approval, and for your programmer to get the first issue up and running, and then a testing phase to make sure you don't make a fool of yourself.
So ... this is definitely NOT a market for everyone ... on the other hand, I think Simon Hodgkinson has drawn out enough of a roadmap in iStormer that any reasonably intelligent marketer with some common sense, a little cash, and some patience could actually use the information in his guidebook to break into this huge market.
When you compare the effort required here to create a potential monster mobile phone app success ... with the same effort going into a bunch of Adsense sites which might net you $10 a day at best ... well, it is enough to get the gears in the 'ol noggin turning ....
This is a market which is NOT going to go away. In a recent survey of college students over 10% already had iPhones, and another 30+ percent intended to buy one within a year.
HUGE HUNGRY MARKET = HUGE CASH POTENTIAL
