if neruda comes to my door

.
if neruda comes to my door
i'm busy tending the flowers,
lilacs, cerises, that threaten
to winter should the weeds
become snug momentarily
and the moss, viridian and
wayward, has ensnared my
devotion
if neruda comes to my door
i have dared set sail, with a
mast of fading white, to the
galapagos, home of waiting
and passing, to be with the
penguins and frolic along its
primordial shores forgetting
autumn
if neruda comes to my door
i'm away in a fishing village
ogling the fresh catch, wide
eyed and squirming, inside
frayed nets which bring me
back to my cravings, affairs
unfinished like the sunsets i
desire
if he does not, in the greying
light, by my window i shall
wait.

A beautiful tribute to that which is truly important in life.
Hi Cris,
Wow! What else can I say?
...affairs unfinished like the sunsets I desire....what a line!
simply beautiful. This took me places. Mind if I wait with you?
Very nice poem and tribute to Pablo Neruda who was the greatest romantic poet. I used to know several of his poems by heart and have translated a couple, XX and one other.
I was not expecting a dose of Cris today. A delicious read. Thank you so much. Unfortunately it seems to have fed not satiated my appetite.
Beautiful, Chris.
So lovely, Cris! Ahh, always refeshing to read you! :)
Ah, so beautiful. And wistful. You've got that gift, to convey that emotion, with such purity. Thank you.
This poem gave me chills; its a beautiful tapestry of words. Thank you for addding this poem to my day. :)
a beautiful Sunday read. Thank you Cris.
awesome!
Okay, who is Neruda? I like your poem but er, wondering who that is got almost my whole attention :).
Nice to hear what you have to say my friends. I'm glad my poetry can still provoke such warm responses. Thanks :D
@emie http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pablo_Neruda and I recommend the movie Il Postino/The Postman. :D
Okey dokey. Thanks :)
Dearest Cris--what exactly is there while we all are so busy to notice the things in life that are most important? If destiny were to call--are we tending flowers or are we surrounded with destiny enough that ignorance blinds us from its truth? Where are we all when inspiration were to come--and yet fail to notice because of an untrained eye?
I understand this so much. I miss your beautiful writing, what am I to do without it?
-hugs- my dear Cris.
This was beautiful, as usual, Cris. How are you doing? You and your family have been in my prayers. I'm glad to see you writing poetry again and I'm looking forward to much, much more! :)
Beautiful, poignant, and memorable, Cris A! Thanks for the great imagery! I wish it was longer in that respect!
Nice job again Cris !
@emie - anytime :D
@sandy - you spoil me with your comments - what am i to do without them? LOL thanks my friend. and so true what you said.
@azur - i'm okay, i am up for two job posts. we'll see before this week's over. thanks for the prayers, a cheer section is always appreciated :D
@dohn - maybe next time as i fancy really writing a looong one. thanks for reading and commenting. :D
@tony - i didn't know you were a man of few words. but that would suffice my bro. sometimes it's when you say nothing at all... :D
That is good to hear. So it is back to the 9 to 5, eh? Good luck. Besos!
azur
not quite there yet. if you must know (LOL) i had my final interview for one post last friday and was told that i'd know if i passed this week. i'm keeping everything i can manage to cross crossed! Haha thanks for the heads up my friend :D
Waiting for Pablo is like waiting for Godot (unless you create your own Neruda iside of you)... Very creative Cris :)
alas, his genius cannot be duplicated. thanks for reading and commenting shamel :D
You just get better and better. While your waiting, 'Tell me, is the rose naked or is that her only dress?' Wasn't that one of his more important questions never answered?
Come wind, come rain, come flood, your poetic genius just keeps getting better Cris! Doing and waiting....two sides of the same coin?
'....what is the ascidia waiting for in its transparent
bell? What is it waiting for?/I tell you it is waiting for time, like you.'
hi there Cris, I like this one, nice poem, I am a fan of Neruda too! We will both wait when he comes...you have a good day!
You paint beautiful pictures with your words, Cris. This is lovely.
if he comes to my door, i will stop whatever it is am doing! and listen, and listen, 'til the dawn breaks and sleep conquers mesoul.
Cris A, reading this I was transported from here to the languid pace of life on a tropical island. Thank you for that journey, even if it is the result of my own romanticised view of island life. (The great man himself would be honoured)
@C.
I hope so! LOL I guess so... but i think it does not require an answer. Thanks for dropping by :D
@Shalini
oh time be my friend! or at least not my enemy. glad you enjoyed this :D
@pdh

@amanda

@bing
Betcha would! LOL :D
@Don
I am a romanticist myself, like most people - admittedly or not. Thanks for dropping by and commenting. It's nice to meet you :D
ah i remember reading about this poet, it seems so long ago, so much water under the bridge, so nice to have you with us..... so nice x
hey ya brenda
you should read more stuff by him. here's a link:
http://www.poemhunter.com/pablo-neruda/ and it's nice to see you all rosy and everything :D
You keep going back to Neruda :-) I remember a discussion with Teresa about the fellow, I think she wasn't too keen on him --- one of the few times I've disagreed with her! Kudos!
ah but i love the man, what can I say? where's Teresa btw? haven't been seeing her. anyway, thanks for reading :D
i am reading and writing poetry so much just now, nothing else is getting done..... it can wait for sure..... thanks for the link.... am reading one at a time and soaking it in.
Have written in my note book, a poem, entitled, "if Cris A came to my door"..... contemplating publication here on hub pages, we will see
You transported me to a garden, the Galapagos and a fishing village all in the space of a few moments with your interweaving of words. Nice job! Speaking of jobs...hope you got the job you wanted.
this is a truly lovely hub...... looking forward to reading more of your work
Ooooo, dis is so boutiful. x
@brenda

@peggy
Glad to hear you're up for an armchair travel. I'm done with the obstacle course - exams, interviews, etc - now I'm playing the waiting game.
@seasoning

@ivana

Ooooo, I vana b with u now. shame to grata. xx
Haha :D
When he comes to my door, I hope he will teach me how to write an ode to an apple. Ah, such life, such vibrant life, in his work. And yours.
Or we can be the Neruda, yes us the wannabe poets, in the poem. The ones coming to the doors of... thanks for reading :D
