If Today Was Your Last Day

lyrics by Nickelback

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each days a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned
Leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day
If tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have
If today was your last day

Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the price is always worth the fight
Every second counts cause there's no second try
So live it like you're never living twice
Don't take the free ride in your whole life

If today was your last day
If tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have
And would you call old friends you never see
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies
And would you find that one your dreaming of
Swear up and down to god above
That you'll finally fall in love
If today was your last day

If today was your last day
Would you make your mark
On ending a broken heart
You know it's never too late
To shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are
So do whatever it takes
Cause you can't rewind
A moment in this life
Let nothing stand in your way
Cause the hands of time
Are never on your side

If today was your last day
If tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have
And would you call old friends you never see
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies
And would you find that one your dreaming of
Swear up and down to god above
That you'll finally fall in love
If today was your last day

Interesting thought, I am going to think about what I would do now if I thought today was my last day...... that is a difficult one

i think i 'd want to be surrounded by the people i love or rather I want them to be nearby not with me the exact moment i die. I would try to give all i could to the people who need it most, starting with my friends and family. However i hope i'll be able to do more.

Inspiration

I am inspired and touched by this sincere song that at first I probably would not have even listened to if it was not for one of my closest friends. She let me borrow her CD and told me her favorite songs. Nickelback creates music that rocks but like life itself, they also play music we can really appreciate.   “If Today Was Your Last Day” makes me question some of my everyday actions. If I speak before I think and break a heart could I find away to quickly mend it. Simply thinking before I speak would be the best solution however I believe everyone has their days when their so angry they feel that their blow the roof off. The lyrics also make me think about my dreams and resolutions that I make every year. Never have I ever loved a song as much as love this one. I adore every lyric, their inspirational, and full of soul, questions, life, and rock at the same time.

I want to remember the meaning of “If Today Was Your Last Day” forever and hopefully pass it down to future generations. Because each an every lyric brings a message, I feel must be spread. Although there is a chorus, it seems to me that the chorus is only to questions used to commence my thinking process. While all the other lines are words to life by and to take in for consideration. The song begins with one of my very most favorite message, “each day’s a gift and not given right”. Note that is not the actual first line, I comprised into the message I want to keep. The next line “Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind,” which means regardless of my fears, I should never let them steal away my opportunities to shine with pride. “And try to take the path less travelled by” sings out for me to follow a path of my own, avoid following the crowd, and try something never done before.

“The first step you take is the longest stride,” in the beginning the first step forward is the toughest step to concur so once I’ve made that leap I must be proud of how far I’ve gotten and continue move forward. The chorus follows this by bringing up questions such as if today was your last day and tomorrow was too late would you be able to say goodbye to the life you have now. When they say “What’s worth the prize is always worth the fight,” I think that if I crave something enough then it’s worth giving my best shot at being a winner. Every second counts 'cause there's no second try, translation do not waste a single moment. “So live like you'll never live it twice,” don’t expect to always get another chance. Don't take the free ride in your own life means don’t just play it safe, go out take risks, and make dreams turn into reality.
