images and verses: when pictures paint words
74
In my almost one year here on HubPages, there are two things that I realized about myself. First, that I really love and can write poetry and second, that PhotoShop works like a stress-buster for me when I start thinking about retirement (from what, you ask? you, my friend, have a point). Moreover, I have come to appreciate the role played by images on my hubs - that they are no longer just eye-candies for the easily-bored reader, but rather, they can enhance my hubs by adding oomph and thereby eliciting ohs and ahs (I hope! :D) and that they add an extra dimension to reading as an experience. And to top it off, images, like poetry and any written material, can be sources of inspiration. This I found out recently when I started creating hubs based on images. Yeah, I create an image first, the content/text to follow.
Anyway, before I start sounding full of myself (if I haven't already), here's a little hub for you to enjoy (kill me later if I proved to be too optimistic and cheery). Yes, the images came first before the poems.
.
.
.
i sense you in the darkness like the muted light through the
gauzy curtains. you have become celestial, distant but still
my own. but here in the silence, when infinity stops for but
a moment, timelessness is a field and i am a child again.
.
.
.
i get lost in the exquisite lines of your pale pale hands
and wonder what lips would not dream of flowers in
May
when beauty takes leave from the newborn stars and
descend so palpably like the splendour of your touch.
.
.
.
melancholic like the train in 'Brief Encounter' scampering
back and forth
back and forth
like some bigtime nostalgia, so achingly bitter and sweet.
you see the thing with remembrance, you can have but
never ever hold
again.
.
.
.
love,
my love is ethereal. with you, i am fragile and have no
roots. i am a slave to the wind like the autumn leaves
that pray for the most delicate air - your breath when
you speak my name.
love,
my love is magic. it is blind to reason and materiality
for it dwells in the mystery of fantasy not in rhymes.
i'm senses in disarray.
love,
to you i confess. but alas, you must know this by now.
you are my enchantment.
love,
love
.
.
.
i am a child of light but not divine
divinity is for manufactured gods
transcendence is not peripheral
it's a state of grace not bestowed
i believe in your spirit but not the
one for show. think. they don't
accept entertainers at the gate.
.
.
your perfume lingers under the covers
mingling, enmeshed with trails of your
whisper. heady is my poison of choice.
caught up in rapture, i am turbulent
when the sun rises to mount the sky
i am reduced to (sigh) a nibbly thing.

@doods
Sure! But how?! LOL Thanks :D
@FP
Yeah, I think, for the first time in my life, I have a plan ie career-wise! LOL Thanks for the comment :D
I am not exaggerating when I say, I was "ooo'ing and aain'ing while looking at the magical images and the words that followed. I love creativity because it comes from a deeper part of ourselves. It so true images combined with words can create such a depth.
Beautiful, beautiful work!
No Cris, I don't believe they do. Which will leave allot a bit lost for words and a tad dissolutioned. (wink)
@VS
I am flattered pink (scarlet even!) by your comment. Thanks. And I agree on what you have to say about creativity, and so my hats off to creative people (in any field) like yourself. Thanks for dropping by :D
@jewels
LOL yeah, that would be the day! :D
Magical, mystical, transcendental....and so much more! Cris - everytime you just outdo yourself and raise the bar. Incredibly beautiful the way the pictures and words seem to flow out of each other!
Hey shalini
Yeah, I purposely do that to make things difficult for you! LOL you know I jest! Truth is, I just don't want to disappoint my friends here on HP. Your pleasure is my pleasure, always. Thanks for reading. :D
I read this, coffee to my side, cigarette in the other, half somnolent upon my chair. A wonderfully dreamy moment - and now I feel languid and faraway. I adore the visual imagery that you weave among your words. Or is it the reverse? Loved the whole - have a great day :)
I envy what you're doing (lights one and...coffee will have to wait). Anyway, I'm glad to know this hub sort of made you feel um light. Thanks for the comment :D
lol Cris I don't mean your poetry is lightweight. I just read it when I was 'taking five' and it was the perfect time to have done so :)
LOL back - no no NO I didn't mean that I thought you meant that you thought (u with me still? LOL) my poetry was "light". I was referring to languid and faraway - light as the sea breeze. Oh you know what I mean! LOL :D
*lights another* and seriously thinking about that coffee :D
Actually I should have just said 'bloody fabulous' but that's rather course in relation to your wonderful prose ...
*got Cris - and is also out of coffee*
wow-100 if I was scoring-thanks for this beautiful Hub!!!!!Kimberly
@FD - LOL (vows to make coffee - NOW!)
@kimberly - wow that's a mighty high score! thanks, glad you liked this :D

Your poetry is not only amazing, wonderful and phenomenon ( I really mean it) but also I could feel the words dancing on the rhythm of the pictures which are perfectly designed. Thank you for this fantastic and enjoyable hub Cris. You are my buddy.
I trust that you meant for you are my friend. So thanks for the kind words again. It's always nice seeing you on my hubs :D
you are killing me, Cris! It is such an emotional exhaustion in reading your work, it always strike me at my most vulnerable points.
for dearest, Cris:
you are divine.
in strength and spirit.
I have all but lingered
in your light, only evolving
in your shadow.

your wisdom
your greatness
and embodiment
...with words.
-hugs-
sandy
that little poem makes your comment above one of the suweetest i have received ever ever. I will keep it in my heart always. Thanks, my friend. You are an inspiration :D
Wow! Wow!! This is amazing! The first time reading your poetry. You definitely got talent.Kepp up the good work.
Of course I meant my friend :)
My favorite poem is "etherial, magic, enchantment".
"Melancholic, Nostalgia, Rememberance" is an inspirational graphic to me. Brings about thoughts, questions, ie. stories. =D
Cris,
Although life is keeping me busy and at a distance from writing on hubpages, it has been merciful as to let me enjoy my favorite HP writer, poet, and artist. As always I love them all. Big smile and lots of cyber hugs to you my friend. :-)
I loved your poetry and everything that you had to offer and how each poem went a long with the pictures that you photoshopped great hub and your writing is amazing! I also love poetry and love sharing mine. Great job by the way!
@juliet
I will if you promise to read them always! Hahaha Thanks for reading and commenting :D
@shamel - :D
@Frieda

@whikat
but such is the way of life, isn't it? we don't always get what we want.. we have to sneak around it sometimes with a wink and a smile...and sometimes a hug. as always, your presence brings fuzzy feelings my friend :D
@jeni
Nice to meet you. I'll drop by and check your hubs for I'm a big fan of poetry. Glad you liked what you saw and read. Thanks for checking out this hub :D
I love both images and words. Great job!!
glad you liked this helianthus. thanks for dropping a line :D
That's a very interesting process, letting the pictures inspire the verse. The pictures alone were really intriguing. And the verse was definitely CrisA quality. The second pairing was my favorite. Very cool poem and picture. As always, I love the way your mind works.
benji
and thanks for always leaving inspiring thoughts. glad you dropped by :D
*blush*
I think the colour pink becomes you, too :cool:
I'm interested in creating images on Photoshop and writing poetry myself. think it's really cool how your images totally complement the poetry. I think the use picture prompts (but in this case you create them yourself) is an interesting technique to start writing. Thanks for sharing these interesting visuals and words. I like the divine/transcendence/spirit best, so lyrical :)
Hi Ninna
Yeah you should go for it, i have fun doing it all the time. Glad you like this hub and thanks for the compliment :D
The pictures are great. They say alot even before you put words with them. I really like it.
You got my attention and that of course is not so difficult, but dejavu - it seems I'v seen these, perhaps in dreams? I don't know. What a day. thanks
@cindy
Glad you like what you saw (and read). Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate it :D
@mega1
LOL okay, so I guess you're easily distracted (that's good news for me! LOL) That's what I like poetry, its dreamlike quality - like the pictures you see here. So perhaps indeed you've seen them before. Thanks for dropping by :D
I love the synthesis of the poems with the images, this would make a great cocktail book! ( I want photoshop!)
canopygallery
That's a neat idead - you can print this out! LOL Thanks for dropping by, and go ahead and get photoshop :D
Amazing stuff -- eye candy! You are a gifted master of imagery.
I replied to your comment on "Minstrel," 6 days later! Busy sometimes ... then utterly bored.
I think you should put together a Web site ... truly! Let me know when you're ready.
Cris, wherever do you get those pictures? They're absolutely stunning! And don't tell me you wrote poetry only after finding hubpages. I think you have a notebook stashed somewhere with all your poetry. If you decide to publish them, can I be your manager / accountant? =)
it was the photoshop masterpieces that put me in awe.
Hey Ron
Nice to see ya finally! Wait a minute, am I talking to a filthy rich man? I sure hop so!
LOL six days later! No prob as long as you did eventually.
You'll be the first one to know of course :D
@Emie
Yeah I did in high school and college, but they're all gone now. Sure, if you promise there'd be no scandal LOL
@bingskee
Thanks, a lot of hits and misses in the execution went into making them. Thanks for dropping a line :d
Ha-ha. I never discuss money.
Very haunting visually and lyrically. Melanchoic nostalia remembrance just breathes forgotten memories of past lives.
Brilliant and inpirational. I love that first picture, wish I could paint that. Your retirement will be just fine.
Cris - Your artwork causes me to exhale sharply. Your poetry makes me hold my breath. Jointly, they make me ponder and rejoice and .... they make my day.
Way cool poetry and artwork CrisA,I read about you on a comment from "PirateGirl" first hub!
Thanks for sharing!
..this is really cool!..you can extract the awesome words behind the images/art.. thank you for sharing sir! :)
Gorgeous work, Cris. Strong poetry and equally strong artwork. Breathtaking.
OOOOOOOHHHHH ! AAAAAAAAAHHHHH ! Nicely done Chris . Your Imagery In addition to the written word Is great !
Mmmmmm, "enmeshed with trails of your
whisper," yummy.
Sweetie--your talent blows me away with your images.
"Melancholic-Nostalgia-Remembrance" I have taken this train many times in my life. Thank you, Thank you.
Exquisite and magical as ever Cris - I love them all, they can be read through as one and also read as several, such is the consistencey of your voice. I love how the sentiment in the last one, about the lingering scent of a loved one and the memories it carries, is brought bang into reality by reducing you to "(sigh) a nibbly thing" .
Cris hope you are o.k. we are reading such bad reports of how things are in Manilla
Beautifully done Cris. You have a towering talent, both with poetry and art.
Cris, where are you? Hope you're doing okay. Among the Filipino hubbers I know, you're the only one we haven't heard from since the typhoon. Give us a short note to tell us you're okay, okay?
I must say the writing is a wonder & the photos most creative... Lovin it ALL! Keep on RocKn it out. =D
CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAp I missed a hell of awesome stuff in this little interval of time !! MAN Cris this is always getting better. You words are stunning and the pictures aren't ice on the cake they are a different tasty breathtaking cake. I totally love it and seriously i love it ...
chris hi have been so worried about you, we now know you are at least alive....... hope you can recover from everything...... love you so much, and have missed your contribution here. Brenda Scully x
Love you, love you, love you!!!xxx

far too long .....
Wow. Wow. Wow. Speechless.
lorraine
don't i know?
Paradise7
Thanks, i take that as a compliment.
Cris: Came back to this hub as the images are beautiful and it matches the words; have you considered selling your photoshop work? There are sites on the net like ImageKind which Tajana Mikaela (a hubber) uses to sell her photoshop art.
OMG! OMG! OMG! You have grown this much? How come I'm still as tiny as a cat when it comes to hubbing. and your photoshop looks delicious. You can write based on what you see in a picture, yes, you're certainly a writer! A good one.
@marie
Thanks for dropping by again. No I havent as I see PhotoShop as just something that I enjoy doing. But that's a neat idea nonetheless.
@sheila
because you're a lazy hubber cat that's why! LOL thanks for not running out of compliments for my hubs - they make me feel good about writing
Very nice. I was actually carried away with the pictures. Thanks for sharing.
hi Philipo
Glad you enjoyed the images. I made sure at least those are worth any hubber's time. Haha :D
How on earth did I miss this hub before? Well, I apologize in my delay. This was chimerical (my new favorite word) for me. The pictures spoke as loudly as the poetry. I especially loved the "Love" poem... I love love!
Don't ask me! LOL Apology not taken as it is not required. Ah i know you are a big love fan! thanks for reading, better late than never :D
Wow Cris A, OMG I found you via being a fan of Invictus... Your work is simply awesome, it is not often you find someone that is good with Photoshop and poetry as well. What a splendid talent to possess...
MG
And I'm glad I'm able to share it and make things that make people say OMG - that's a compliment of the highest order for me. LOL Thanks for viewing and reading and speaking your mind :D
Glad this came up on Hubtivity Cris - just as beautiful the second time around!
Ah that's so suweet! Thanks!
Oh btw, I've decided to revamp/reinvent some of the wallpapers I made for some hubbers before, including yours. The same themes though but reinterpreted. I have actually finished yours but I still need to add some more.
PS shot you an email :D

Whether or not you think your poetry is good or not, Cris A, your voice in your writing is loud, clear, and lyrical. You have more talent than you think, my friend! I've always been an admirer of your work! Don't stop photoshopping or writing! (This is a warning! :D )
