Overview

It never fails. When you need to use your cell phone the most, you find yourself in a spot of bad reception. You have no bars of service, no matter what position you contort yourself in, you just can not get a strong enough signal to send or receive phone calls. In the cell phone culture of today, this is a nightmare.

There are several things you can do to improve cell phone reception. First, you want to be aware of your cell phone provider's service area, cell phone towers and roaming capabilities. A lot of lost service can be chalked up to being outside cell phone service areas, and this cannot be avoided. If you can avoid these areas all together, it would be the easiest solution to maintain strong service.

If you cannot avoid these areas, there are remedies you can purchase to make your cell phone reception stronger. Larger antennas, for starters, may allow you to reach cell phone towers outside your phone's normal range of reception. If you do not have an external antenna, you can purchase electronic strips to place behind your battery that will use the whole phone to pick up signals.

If remedies such as those do not work, contact your cell provider and find out what they suggest. Contacting your phone's maker may also prove worthwhile. Sometimes bad reception cannot be helped, but by taking the time to learn about your area and phone, you can find the best way to maintain the highest level of reception no matter what you travel.
