Increase Your Traffic and Increase your Adsense CTR at the same time
69Increase your traffic and your CTR at the same time
I joined Hubpages 2 months ago and still being a newbie, i knew there was a lot that i have to learn. When i started, i didn't know anything about SEO, getting traffic or making money. This however, didn't stop me from trying. After my first month on hubpages, i didn't make a single cent, but what i did gain, was advice and knowledge from fellow hubbers. These hubbers have been part of Hubpages for a long time, so i took their advice and within days i have had several clicks. Things started looking good and i was convinced i could make it. I mean, if they could, i could !
As my knowledge grew, i also grew to realize that my hubs are not performing the way i wanted them to. I did my SEO and i optimized my hubs the best i could. This just wasn't enough ! My traffic fell and there was days i barely had 10 impressions on my stats. Then I figured that these hubs i wrote, was more 'internationally' targetted. This way, the competion was tough and i had to work extra hard. I didn't mind. I changed my hubs in all ways that i could and gave it another try. Only now, half way into my second month at Hubpages, im starting to show some good results. This is besides the point though. Skipping into my second month, with very little hope and a blank mind, i sat down for a while and gave it some thought.
This is what i wanted:
- Higher Adsense CTR
- More traffic (organic)
- Higher PR
- Lower competition
And this is what i am going to help you with !
Suddenly i saw everything in a different way and the ideas i had, vanished. I had new ones this time. Firstly, i decided to change my whole "international" target to a more local target. By doing this, i would no longer write about topics that's already covered in ten million other websites. If you think about it, there are thousands of people out there looking for a easy way to make money and they end up writing about "making money", yet they know nothing about it. Not really going to get then far ! Even if, in some weird way they do manage to make it, the competition will smother them. Anyway, let's get back to the point.
So with my new'local target' idea, i would write hubs purely on the city which i live in, which in this case happens to be Cape Town, South Africa. The very first thing i realized is that the competition will be much lower. No longer will i try to get a audience from USA, Canada or Japan.
The next thing i did was, i made use of several keyword suggestion and research tools. Simply enter your keyword, which will be your city, and see what it gives you. In my case, i was given more than i can handle. High CTR, great monthly search volumes and a fair amount of high paying keywords. I mean, it's just a fact that each and every single city, town and state in this universe has something the next one don't have. May it be a sport team, store, park or some camping facilty.
Random Example:
I want to write about fly fishing for rainbow trout. The internet is loaded with this topic already. Simply narrow it down a little. Instead of writing about fly fishing for rainbow trout, write about fly fishing for rainbow trout in Cape Town. You get the idea? Like a niche. You won't find a person in Alaska looking for a second hand igloo in Japan. Would you? At least not always. The whole idea is to narrow what ever it is that you are writing about, down to a more local audience. Make it more targetted ! That is unless you want to play around in the big pond and hope to make it. Going local gives you a way better chance of actually making it.
Here's a awesome tip:
Use my example above. Go to Google. Now type in the first word, two or three. You will see that Google has a feature of suggestion several phrases. The good thing is, that Google can detect in which area you live in, and provide you with phrases more relevant to that area, given you more ideas what to write about. Play around with word, go crazy. then, back to keyword tools.
Now, when creating your hubs, remember to try and include your main keyword/s in your url, content, tags and headings.
Another Great Tip:
Something that i have had some good luck with, is Prlog. Prlog is a press release service that enables it's users to fully control and manage their press releases. Your press releases can also contain a clickable backlink to your hub. Most people don't like the whole 'cut and paste link into your browser' idea. It's a free service, easy and simple to use. Your press releases even has it's own individual stats and hit counter.
Advantages of doing things the way i do it:
- You have very low competition
- You have more organic traffic
- You have a higher Pagerank
- You have a higher CTR
- You have less worries and stress
I have started my second hubpage account about a month ago. Since then, i have had, and still do have some pretty good results. For the rest of this month i am going to see it as a trial run. If it is successfull and it performs the way i expect it to, i will continue with my niche as well as move on to covering surrounding cities, all within my country. For those of you who are wondering, yes, i do make a fair amount of adsense revenue per day. At least way better than the "international" targetted hubs i write.
Most of you might already be doing this, but for those of you just getting in the game, good luck ! I hope you enjoyed this, and i hope it helps you in your quest to becoming successfull on Hubpages.

Keep us up to date on your progress. I have written several of mine based on my local area and they hit organic search within minutes. I have also hit the first page within an hour for certain phrases so I know it works.
I still have so much to learn and it's your fault. :D
Thanks for sharing. Will try.

I have noticed that when I write about Lisbon, somehow they get found. They shouldn't because they're not overly search engine friendly. I actually have a few half done ones in my account which are resting on their laurels whilst I decided what to do with them.
I hoe you have a lot of success with your project and I'd love to know if it works. I will keep my eyes out for word of your success.
