Pay To Surf programs have been around for a while. Finally a company has come along that has done it right. The iNetSurf "Get Paid To Surf The Web" program takes this concept to a whole new level with the Pay Per View advertising.

Pay Per View is similar to Banner Advertising where advertisers pay per impression, but instead of a banner it displays an entire web page. A timer conuts down, typically15-30 seconds. Then the viewer is required to click to confirm that they have viewed the page.

This gives the advertiser a "Captive" viewer for at least 5-30 seconds. Then is up to the advertiser to engage the viewer, capture their attention, an hopefully convert them into a paying customer.

All Advantage was one of the 1st companies to popularize the Pay To Suf concept back in 1999. The signed up 10 Million Mmbers in just 18 months.

Their concept required you download a Banner Viewer, where advertiser banners would rotate. You were required to open this banner viewer and let it run on your computer. You would then be compensated by the hour the bar was run on your computer, up to 25 hours pe month.

This method was flawed and wide open for fraud. Advertisers were not getting good results for their advertising dollars, and the entire company went down.

Although short lived, All Advantage proved that there was a big demand for Pay To Surf programs.

Algloco Another company, who appeared to be a reincarnation of the original All Advantage attempted to start up The new company, complete with some of the same founders, promised to pay users for viewing advertising through a toolbar.

The founders, who originally blamed the stock crash in 2000 for the AllAdvantage faiure, claimed they’d get it right this time around. The theory was that a new ability to target advertising would allow them to generate the revenue for a long term business.

Unfortunately this didn't work either. Here is an exerpt from a letter they sent out to all Algloco members:

"We would like to update you on the status of AGLOCO’s operations. We continue to believe in the AGLOCO concept, but our revenue is currently not sufficient to give Members a meaningful distribution. And though there are increases in membership, the resulting revenue is not enough to support operating costs. As a development team we are unable to continue to use our savings to fund the operations. If any Member would like to pursue continuing the operations of AGLOCO, you may contact us at agloco1@live.com .

We would like to thank every Member for supporting our effort to bring a piece of the Internet directly to the user. We hope that we can find a way to keep the operations going."
