Things To Do In California - Cool Day Trips From Los Angeles
71Aliens Love This Spot
Millions of people visit Southern California every year and most make a point of seeing the favored spots; Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios and Magic Mountain to name a few. But lurking just outside the view of the average tourist are some of the most wonderful and eccentric things to do in California.
Just two short hours outside of Los Angeles lies Palm Springs. Most people have heard of it and know it as a great place to play golf, relax at a spa or even enjoy your honeymoon. Only a short 20 minute drive up the hill from Palm Springs takes you to the nearby high dessert area and one of the best weird things to do in California.
Located in Landers, California in the middle of the Joshua tree strewn high desert area, lies The Integratron. When you think of weird things to do in California, this has to be one of the first. The Integratron is a dome shaped structure that was created by George Van Tassel many decades ago.
Mr. Van Tassel was many things, scientist, builder, UFO enthusiast and advocate of time travel. He spent nearly the last two decades of his life creating The Integratron. Its history is a rich one that all began with George's conversation aboard an alien spacecraft with the Venusian, Solgonda who relayed many life secrets to him.
The basic structure was created through donations including a large amount that came from millionaire Howard Hughes. The purpose of The Integratron was the rejuvenation of the human body, along the lines of recharging a battery. George built the dome on a natural convergence of geomagnetic ley lines to aid in amplifying the energy needed to recharge human cells.
George has long since died, but his life story is well documented on the inner walls of the dome. Today The Integratron is owned by sisters Nancy and Joanne Karl who have opened it back up to the public, after years of it being under private ownership. The dome now hosts regular weekend sound baths in which visitors lay in the upper deck of the acoustically perfect structure and let the live sound of tuned quartz bowls wash over them.
The dome is also available to rent for over night sleep overs and has hosted all sorts of seminars, science groups, sound healers and musicians for lots of different reasons. If you're looking for some really weird things to do in California, then don't pass up a visit to The Integratron. It's only a couple of hours drive out of Los Angeles, but worlds away.
