Internet Marketing is New MLM

If you are a network marketer, a home business owner or a small business owner or manager, this is the year that your marketing plan MUST include Internet Marketing strategies combined with Attraction Marketing principles.

NOW. MUST. Strong words to get across my strong feelings. You Now Must.

Never before has the time been so right to build your team if you are a network marketer. Millions of people are hurting out there and you can find them and reach them hundreds and thousands at a time. Without spending a fortune on advertising. Without spending 14 hours a day at your desk and computer. Without being a technology expert. (I like Geeks--but you don't have to be one.)

New MLM
The game of MLM is changing. Old style MLM is the three foot rule. Talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime about your business. Believe me, if people don't let you see how much that annoys them, it's only because they think you are too nice to be rude to or you are their friend and they don't want to hurt your feelings. More often than not, you are just inviting rejection. People are bombarded with "buy me" and "buy from me" messages every day and they've gotten either irritated and angry or cynical and angry.

It's time to stop the Old Style MLM game and get into a new one. Hundreds of network marketers are making a good living without having to "bother" anyone and without having to do and say things that make them feel really uncomfortable.

Instead--you can build a web of content in a niche you pick yourself and grow a huge group of people who look forward to hearing from you. Another huge group will start calling you to get your advice, because you have established your credibility with them. They trust you and your information.

Web Marketing: Build a Web of Content

Your mission for the next six months needs to be this: Build a web of content in an area for which you have at least high interest.

Your web of content will establish your internet network marketing real estate.

Your goal is to become the trusted advisor for hundreds of people. They will seek out your information because you have taken some time to add to a store of knowledge about topics they want to read about. This information will include information that will help you recommend your products and services to them--eventually.

Start With Your Interest
There's no point in dedicating the time and energy it takes to building a successful part-time or full-time business if you don't like and have no interest in the products, the people who are in your target audience, the people you have to work with, the books, magazine articles, and videos you will digest when you're working on putting together new information for your audience.

Start with something you'd truely enjoy reading about and talking about for at least a year or two (for those with short attention spans).

Narrow Your Focus
This is called Niche Marketing. You narrow your focus from all the health and wellness products in your company's product line that everybody in the world needs (but doesn't want)--to a particular group with a particular health issue and the products that they may see as a solution for their problem.

Don't Let Your Mind Stop You
Please don't let anything paralyze you. Take action even if you feel you only know a little more than your audience when you start buiding your web of content. That little is enough. And, a benefit of taking steps to build your web of content--and build relationships with people drawn to your content is this: You will learn more and more and eventually enough to be recognized as a valued, trusted advisor, even an expert!

Start with a Blog

Blogs are easy (and free or inexpensive) to get started building a web of content. You "post" to your blog (write a journal entry) about topics and news relevant to your audience.

Advantages
The advantage of starting a blog over building a web site is this: You don't have to know in advance how you will organize it. You can start out with a "messier", more organic process, just adding short pieces of material to your blog day by day. When you have enough material, you can start adding categories that will help your blog audience find the particular information they want.

Disadvantages
The disadvantage of a blog over a web site is that to grow your web of content fast enough to get some momentum going (and enough for your readers to browse and read), you have to commit to regular and frequent blog entries.

Choose Your First Blog Platform
These days setting up a blog is made easy by directions online that walk you through it step-by-step and users groups that help solve problems. You will find a blog to get started with from the list below:

Click here to link to an article, Choosing a Blog Platform, discussing which blog to choose when you are just beginning to build your web of content.

Automate Building a Contact List

Use an autoresponder (another piece of software), to create a series of emails that deliver more information to people who subscribe at your blog.

How an Autoresponder Works
You log into your autoresponder on the Web to create lists and create email to be sent to your list(s) on a schedule you determine. You also create your sign up box to collect your subscribers' contact information. You place the sign up box on your blog. When your visitor types in their name and email address and clicks the Submit button, the contact information is automatically sent to your contact list in your autoresponder and your pre-scheduled emails are sent out one at a time on the schedule you set up.

With a click of their mouse, people who receive your messages can choose to "unsubscribe" or "forward to a friend".

You'll have more "forward to a friend" clicks than "unsubscribe" when you remember to emphasize content and its value to your audience vs. selling a particular product.

Enlarge Your Web of Content

You can enlarge your web of content--and your connections--by posting content at content sharing sites like this one (Hub Pages) and Squidoo. Another good choice is to post content in the form of articles at EzineArticles.com.

Once you have identified your niche, there is an endless amount of content you can add in chunks to your web of content. Just ask yourself: "What is it my audience needs to know and be able to do?"

What Do People Want?
What do people in your niche market want? What information can you present to them via web pages: articles, breaking news, scheduled newsletters, home study courses, short instructional videos, convenient ways to shop and many ways to contact you.

Start making lists, then write titles, jot some notes and sit down to add a short, focused piece of content to your web of content.

Keywords Are King

Keywords and phrases are vitally important to the success of your Internet Marketing. Here is a partial list of keywords and phrases used in this Hub:

internet, internet marketing, network marketing, article marketing, keywords, MLM, home based business... Get the drift?

Your aim to to use keywords and phrases in titles, headers, tags, names of images, linked text and in text on your page that is relevant to your topic.

Generate Traffic to Your Content

Here's some fun. Now it's time to make your web of content truely "webby". Tie it together and build paths around your content.

How Will People Find You?
--Searching
People find you and your content online::

  • Searching for content at search engines like Google and Yahoo and MSN. The words and phrases they use are "keywords" and the search engines find and match with the keywords you have used strategically in your content.
  • Searching for interesting content at social bookmarking sites (Digg.com, Del.icio.us, Furl.net, Stumbleupon.com, Technorati).
  • Linking to your blog or web site from your profile at social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace and Bebo.
  • Linking from your content at HubPages to relevant content on your blog.
  • Linking from your blog or web pages to your company replicated web site and from your company resplicated web site back out to your web of content.
  • Linking from your automated email series to your blog or to your company replicated web site.

These aren't the only ways people find you, but for getting started that's enough to think about.

How Will People Find You? --Advertising
People will find you through advertising. Just starting out, you can imagine lots of ways that are free and inexpensive to advertise. Here are just a few:

  • To reach new people in your local area, how about fliers with a message and tear off slips that send people to your web site (and include an 800#).
  • To reach more new people in your local area, how about advertising on your car with a bumper sticker that sends people to one of your web pages. For an example, see www.Safe-Clean-for-Kids.com.
  • Another way to reach people all over the world but in a specific area is to advertise events on CraigsList or at a social networking site within a group identified with a specific geographical area. The event should be directly relevant to the group members' expressed interests, of course.
