Internet Marketing Strategies- Don't Make This Mistake!

Unfortunately, the learning curve involved with Internet marketing is quite steep. It is extremely easy to make critical mistakes that can destroy your business even before it gets off the ground. This Hub will reveal a mistake that no online business can afford to make!

Typically when a new online business owner creates a website, the 1st area they focus on is getting as much traffic to the website as possible. On the surface, that approach seems logical. A business cannot survive without lots of traffic, right?

Sort Of....

Generally, these new website owners focus on generating traffic from one of two sources. They either buy traffic with pay-per-click advertising, or they optimize their site in hopes of generating free search engine traffic.

So, What Is The Problem?

The problem is that pay-per-click can be quite expensive, and optimizing your site can be tricky and time consuming. If your website visitors do not stay on the site long enough to perform a desired action, All the traffic in the world is not going to make you money, or add new subscibers to your mailing list.

So, What Is The Solution?

The solution is to create a site that "sells!"

This selling process starts with a powerful headline. A large percentage of your visitors decide within 5 seconds if they want to stay on your site. A headline that is impactful, provocative, and benefit driven, will entice your visitor to stay. The fact is, if you are a new online business owner, you should be spending time reading as much as you can about copywriting.

Your site will also sell more effectively if it is interesting and different from other sites in your niche. In addition to acquiring copywrting skills, hiring a creative webmaster to build your site might be a good investment. It is important that you do not build a "cookie cutter" site. In other words, a site that looks like every other site in your niche. Take some time to check out other sites in your niche, and see what others are doing.

Test, Test, Test!

Once you have created a site that "sells", start sending traffic to the site. Spend a relatively small amount of money on a pay-per-click campaign. This will create traffic almost immediately. It is unwise to spend lots of money on advertising until you are convinced that a good percentage of your visitors are either buying your product or subscribing to your list.

Depending on the nature of your business, it may be a good idea to build 2 sites. The page that your visitors "land" on should be identical except for 1 feature. The headlines could be different, for example. Test each landing page and determine which page converts visitors in to buyers the most effectively. Changing only one feature at a time, test the pages against each other until you determine the best performing page.
