interview questions and answers

The best candidtate don't always get the best jobs. The best prepared do!

There is no right or wrong answers to job interview questions and answers given at interviews. What determines whether you get hired or not is how you answer the questions thrown at you by the interviewer- it's a matter of how you present your answers and not what you say.

One important consideration to always remember is that employers are looking for solution to their problem. How would you (the applicant) be able to solve that problem for them?

That is why your choice of words have a prominent role to play in convincing the interviewer beyond any reasonable doubt that you're the right candidate for the job and most importantly securing that important position you're applying for.

However the key is to always structure your answers in the way that can be seen as solving the organisation's problem(s)- that is, portray yourself as a problem solver for you to be seen as a potential asset to the organisation.

All organisations whether big or small search for candidates with problem solving ability and would inadvertently pay a premium to recruit such ideal applicant that is able to demonstrate such skill set.

Mistakes most applicant make when answering interview questions and answers is that they focus their answers on themselves instead of the organisation.

A typical example....

(in this senario Joe Bloggs is the applicant being interviewed by the Coca Cola organisation)

Employer: Why do you want to work for Coca Cola?

Joe Bloggs: I will like to work for your organisation because it would give me the opportunity to enhance my skills, gain experience and further develop my career ambition.

Reality check...

Joe Bloggs' answers focus on what he would gain if he's given the position without giving the employer any preference at all. Analysing his given answers, we can see that...

"I would like to work for your organisation because it would give me the opportunity to enhance my skills". Talks about the benefits to Joe Bloggs.

"gain experience". Here again talks about the benfits to his (Joe Bloggs) career in the long run.

And finally, "further enhance my career ambition" Also talks about Joe Bloggs career ambition.

No reference has been made to a single benefit to the employer. What about the employer? what's in it for them?

Perhaps a typical and well constructed answer should have been-

Joe Bloggs: Well, as you may well know that Coca Cola is an organisation built on quality, trust, integrity and results. This has been a predominant factor in their huge success in attaining the market leader in their products and services. I do not only appreciate these principles, i also believe in them. As such, i intend to use my proven skills, qualifications, knowledge and experience to further contribute to the ever growing success and achievement of Coca Cola.

This is one of the major reasons why most applicants are unsucessful at interviews when dealing with job interview questions and answers
