Is John McCain’s Presidential Goose Cooked?

It sure does seem that way when I look at my homegrown political indicators. The McCain Campaign appears to be desperate. Obama's has been steadily increasing his lead over John McCain, and the electoral vote projection is in Obama's favor.

My first indicator hones in the behavior of the candidates. Which camp appears to be desperate? I would have to say the John McCain campaign. They are throwing everything at Obama. They are suggesting that he is a Muslim terrorist by making reference to him as Barack HUSSEIN Obama. They are implying that he himself is a closet terrorist himself by saying look at Ayers, an ex-Weatherman, who he associates -or, better, a la Paylin, who he pals around-with. Birds of a feather flock together, or better, guilt by association. They are questioning his citizenship. They have said that he is not like "us". They have recently started referring to him as a socialist. And the most recent charge to date is that they have put out a robo call in which Rudy Giuliani states that Obama "opposes mandatory prison sentences for sex offenders, drug dealers, and murderers". What are we to make of all this? It indicates one thing: DESPERATION! It indicates desperation on the part of the John McCain campaign. They are like the basketball team that is behind on points and is trying to win the game with the time clock winding down. They are taking all kinds of wild shots, throwing up prayer after prayer, praying that something will go in. They are like that football team whose quarterback throws up a Hail Mary hoping against hope that it will land in the hands of one of his teammates so that they can win the game. They are like that boxer who is behind on points and is swinging wildly at his opponent hoping that something will land and turn the fight around in his favor. Finally, they are like that military recruit who fails to aim but pulls the trigger anyway praying that it will hit the target. The John McCain, again, campaign appears to have become unfocussed, undisciplined and desperate that they are using any unsavory means necessary win the presidential contest.

My second indicator hones in on the election polls. I like to look at the numbers. I remember that not to long ago that Obama was leading McCain by a mere single digits. He was up by only eight points. As I continued to watch the election polls-and this is just recently-Obama's lead jumped to 10 points. As of today, October 23, 2008, he was pulling even further away from John McCain. The election polls, as of today, had him up by a 12 point spread! That's right, I said "12 points"! Is the writing on the wall? Is it all over for John McCain? No one really knows, but if the numbers keep moving in a zero-sum-gain way (i.e. my win is your lost) that just might be the case.

Finally, my third and final homegrown election indicator hones in on projected electoral votes on Yahoo. It states which candidate is apt to receive what percentage of the electoral college votes. Here again, it, too, has Obama out in front. It projects that John McCain will win-to date-167 electoral votes. In contrast, it projects that Obama is slated to win 344 electoral votes. For a candidate to win the Presidency of the United States of America, he needs only 270 electoral votes. Obama, according to the most recent projected electoral votes, is already beyond that number. Mind you, if the numbers hold up through election day, you just might be looking at your new President, Barack Obama! But not so quick, for as Yogi Berra would say: "It ain't over until the fat lady sings".

Again, the desperation on the part of the John McCain campaign, the 12 point spreading lead of the Obama campaign, and the projection landside of the electoral college vote for Obama seem to indicate that it just might be all over for John McCain even before the voting officially begins! It seems that the Obama campaign is just about ready to bury that old underdog six feet under.

Thanks for your lightning response! I think that he might have it too. But, as the saying goes, "It ain't over till it's over"!

One thing more, I forgot to mention. After I go on my 2-mile run, I will also be voting early--that's TODAY--for Barack Obama.
